    Re: Insurance HELP!!???

    not much help

can tell you this, doctors fee's are negotiable, i don't carry heatlh insurance and most doctors have jacked up rates because providers and the govt pay like .6 of x or whatever

also, i find it hard to believe 14-25k

what half a dozen doc appointments, plus delivery

i mean what do folks who make minimum wage do

on average an operating room is like 800, anatesiaolgist the same, just a guess yet i would think like 3k for delivery

could be wrong, yet, imho, your costs are way higher than reality

If that's the case I'm not too worried then. My biggest concern is if there is any complications that's when the price tag starts to go up. Not that I'd care about money at the time. But after the fact the bill would be pretty painful. Everyone has given great idea's. Many different angles I didn't think of. That's why I love this place! Everyone helps each other out! YOU GUYS ROCK!!

Pretty sure that delivery of a baby is much more then 3k.

To see what folks on minimum wage do I suggest you take out your paycheck and look at the taxes being deducted, your money goes towards very poor people to have babies, and then in return those people get more money each month to support their children.

What do yo do if you have a stomach ache? Most will answer that they take some kind of antacid.

Some people on government support will actually go the emergency room for a stomach ache, the hospital can not turn them away. It is a beautiful system.

Yeah but not all people that make minimum wage are bottom feeders. Some of those people just got a tough break in life and have nowhere else to go. That's why stereotypes are bad. Not all are bad because of a few bad seeds.

Plus honestly with how money hungry our government is I'm glad there's people out there taking advantage of the system. You don't think the government is raping our checks??? They tax you on what you make, then tax you on where you live, then tax you on what you eat, then tax you on gas you use to get you to and from work, then tax you on the phone you talk on, then tax you if you win anything with money they already took taxes from, then tax you on any interest your bank account makes even though they already taxed you on the money that you put in the bank. Am I supposed, or anyone else supposed to feel bad because a few people take advantage of the system?? NO!

It's all fear tactics and of course the government claims it doesn't have enough funds because of people that take advantage of the system, when the real reason is because of their own misappropriation of funds.

And you know what else pisses me off. The fact that I've paid taxes for years and years and have never been able to qualify for unemployment when I was between jobs, didn't qualify for financial aid when I wanted to go to college, and of course can't get healthcare assistance when my wife is pregnant. Sure I make more than some people out there, but if the government would do it's job and stop the insurance companies from price gouging the citizens of this country then we wouldn't have so many people without insurance.

Being self employed the benefits are anything but stellar, and being that my wife is in nursing school we can't get insurance through a job that she doesn't have yet. Insurance for me to cover me and my wife with maternity coverage is about $500.00 a month. I'm sorry but that's more than my damn mortgage payment. That shouldn't be allowed, and of course the government just lets them get away with it since the citizens of this country don't speak up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry if you took what I said as everyone making low wages abuses the system. To clarify, I in no way mean for what I said to be taken that way. I know there are many people that truly need assistance that get it, and there are also many people that truly need assistance that can't get it.

I think the days of citizens speaking up are over. Everyone just hopes that things will get better as time passes.

Also remember to keep track of all medical expenses incurred within the year and you may be able to deduct them at tax time. We were
able to do this the year we paid out thousands in medical expenses. You are able to deduct anything over 7.5% over your gross income for medical expenses, assuming you take itemized deductions. I know that my emergency c-section and hospital stay were about $13,000 and that was 3 years ago. That is not including doctor visits and testing throughout the pregnancy.

Yep, I think you are right about the pre-existing thing.

Well, the best thing to do is sit down with her doc and work out apayment plan and start paying NOW. If will probably be a few hundred a month but that way you don't get hit all at once. You can make this work bro. But, no matter what, you need health insurance before the baby is born.

Id say delivery is prob like 6-7K including anatesiaolgist, but i really don't know, lol! I know when my wife had appendix it was 8k and that was like 6yrs ago. I know it isn't comparable, but i thought that was alot back then. Too bad you are not close to Canada. I have friend that only uses Canada drs and their fees are much cheaper then usa. He knew someone though that gave him a refferal to his dr there that is supposedly very good. I know tho that some hopitals if you can not pay a bill and you can prove that you are not financial able to, they will drop the bill substantially or just write it off, but i can't guarntee this would happen in your case. Oh, btw i called my insurance here and they said they will not cover a pre-exsisting pregnancy, but they said that it depends on what state you are in and what kind of insurance you are looking at. They are all different. The cheapest route you can take is to find a group insurer that takes ppl that are self employed and they are paying for it out of pocket for themselves. Like i said, you have to do alot of calling around and looking at what types of insurance are in your area and what they cover. You also have to look at if they cover the after baby well care visits etc. I actually called BCBS here and they told me for and individual it is running aprox $810. every 3 months for health insurance with them and that is with a $500. deductable for hospital max out of pocket per yr and a $100. deductable that you have to reach per yr thats for visits and labs. So thats aprox $3200. per yr and not including prescription coverage. BCBS is not an HMO so you can pick and choose whatever dr you want, just so they are in their network of drs and specialists, and you don't have to get any refferals.

Do like everyone else in my area does:
Act like you can't speak English. Walk into a hospital and have the baby, and let the taxpayers take care of the bill! BRILLIANT!

My wife has dual citizenship with Canada and USA and since I married her so do I. She was born in USA but her parents were Canadian. So I guess it's always an option to go up there and have it. I'll have to look into that.
