I have 2 German Shephards and the one I just got a few months ago is only a year old female. Very hyper, wants to play all day long and barks a lot. Sometimes I leave her outside so I can get work done, I own a business. Everyone around here has at least one dog, and everyone has fenced in yards. So I go outside to call my dog in and my next door neighbor is talking with the neighbor located behind me diagonally. The neighbor behind me yells out at me when I come outside and she starts yelling "You know you are very inconsiderate, your dog barks all day long, why don't you do something about it" I yelled some shit back Im not gonna enclose cause I was not in the mood. So what the hell can I do about it? She's a baby practically and is very hyper active. She threatened to call the cops on me, etc. etc. blah blah. Along with my old ass cranky neighbor giving me dirty looks while she's yelling shit. And even tho Im friends with lots of officers and a Sergeant in my town so they would prolly just laugh at the whole situation. But seriously what the hell can I do. Im trying to teach her disobediance. My other shephard is calm but much older.

Re: Damn Neighbors
I can't use a muzzle cause first off, she has no bad behavorial problems, very friendly, they say you can't leave the muzzle on for a long period of time, shouldn't muzzle a dog while unattended, also she loves to be outside all the time and you can't muzzle a dog if the are panting. So a muzzle wouldn't help.

Re: Damn Neighbors
she doesn't need obediance school cause she's a perfect behaved dog. Very friendly to everyone, never shit or piss in the house, never tore anything up, she listens to me she knows who's boss, she just likes to bark when I release her in the back yard. I mean what can the neighbors do? It's not like a constant all day thing, I think she'll do it less and less as time goes on, I've had Shephards my entire life so I know they do. People around here are just very stuck up with short tempers since this is a very upscale neighborhood.

Re: Damn Neighbors
hehe, thats kinda what I told her. I yelled back...and at first I was being a sarcastic prick..."Well maybe my dog wouldn't bother you if you had a job instead of hubby making all the money". Then I yelled "What the **** do you want me to do about it? She's still a baby so screw off".

Re: Damn Neighbors
well I dont know if this would work for your dogs but I taught mine to bark on command that way they know when to do it and when not to do it. I can tell them not to speak if they start barking and they stop since they understand the command.

Re: Damn Neighbors
Are you leaving her out at nite and late hrs? If that is the case id bring her in at nite. Im with Lilly on this, most cities have ordaninces how late there can be noise outside. I think ours is not b4 8am and not after 11pm, but some have it only till 9pm. If you are between those hrs, there is nothing really they can do. They'll just prob continue to give you dirty looks, lol!Last edited by mick-G; 08-23-2006, 11:27 AM.

Re: Damn Neighbors
Legally there is nothing they can do then, lol! Just so she is confined to your yard and it is enclosed. There might be an issue if someone has a medical prob where they need their rest, but i doubt anyone would go that far, and it would have to be verified. No worries.
