Do any of you have any experience with these or know of someone? My 6 yr. old girl has been having these for about a year now. I've taken her to two seperate psychologists and nothing. She'll go for a while having them every night maybe missing a night here and there and then she's gone for months without them.

Re: Night Terrors??????
She never remembers what she dreamed. It kinda freaked me out the first time it happened, I'd never seen any shit like that before. Her eyes are open and sometimes she'll answer you but it's like she's looking straight through you like she's possessed. It lasts anywhere from a couple of min. to 15 or so, and when she comes out of it she doesn't remember anything at all but she's still upset.

Re: Night Terrors??????
Yup, classic night terror. Best thing you can do is keep her calm until she awakens but dont try to wake her forcefully, this can actually cause a heart attack if traumatic enough. Dont worry bro, its more common than you think.

Re: Night Terrors??????
Yeah, no shit I found that out the hard way. I thought that if I poured some cold water in my hand and wiped her face she'd wake up, well she freaked out big time and was moving her arms like she thought she was drowning. That really made me feel like shit, but I learned what not to do.

Re: Night Terrors??????
My oldest went through that when he was 3 or 4. Sometimes he still does. It's craxy, can't get hime to wake up for anything. He eventually grew out of it...Don't have alot of advice because we didn't know what to do and the Dr said he'd grow out of it just wait it out...

I wondering the same thing at first, but now it sounds neurological. A sleep study would help rule out any breathing disorders though. Good advice MICK.

Re: Night Terrors??????
I use to get them as a child... always a reoccuring dream that would push me over the edge and I'd find myself screaming at the top of my lungs... my parents would flip out... LOL... I still get them from time to time... generally when I'm under extreme stress... it scares the living crap out of my wife...

Re: Night Terrors??????
I was watching something on this awhile ago on TV, cant remember...but I think it had to do something with the REM sleep, and what they did was to monitor these ppl in a sleeping area with electrodes attached to dif areas of the body and head and everytime they went into this sleep pattern where they started to have the night tremors they would know from the graphs from the electrodes what area/areas it was taking place and then they would send some electrical current to certain areas of the brain and it took them out of it. Even though it was some kind of shock therapy, the shock was very mild and just enough to get them out of the REM sleep where this was occuring. I cant remember the outcome or what they did for ongoing treatment, but you might want to do some searchs on this, or do a search with your insurance provider to see who is listed that has experience with sleep disorders.
