Well, my old man was always do as i say, not as i do in terms of diversifying his portfolio. he always wanted me to take my age, subtract from 100, then put that % in risky stocks while im young. I take after him a lot...so i was strictly s&p 500 type (more or less) for the past 8 years.

So I was just curious as to whether or not anybody has looked into companies like palatin and cinuvel (ptn, ctt) around here? They are some of the companies behind the MT-II (melanotan & melanotan II) product. These drugs are becoming more prevelent on the black mkt everyday. Research companies now carry it and more and more are finding that they are lifechanging drugs! I know that my experience was phenomenal!!! Both of these stocks are at a 52 week low and seem appealing. Any thoughts?

    Re: Investing

You have to really look at its past trends. Is it a consistant stock or one that is more on the low end and not really making any advances? Im sure you've looked at the company, which is the most important factor. Also, you have to look at what exactly the companies involved in producing, and will it effect a large range or just a niche market. Also, you have to look at if there are larger companies involved in research of the same type of product. What is the current rate of the stock? Sometimes it maybe wiser to wait till you see an upward trend in the stock that is consistant, then looking at little peaks and then going down to a very low rate, just so you can buy cheap. It is better imo to pay a moderate rate and know for sure that the stock is going somewhere then say buying at $2. a share and never seeing a true increased value.

based on my knowledge, just off hand I'd say you got 90% of losing money here

yet, to be fair, I'll do some due dilegence to give you some insight why

note, though I'm 90% sure first premise won't change, yet, ya nevah know, so we try and learn

      let's see

          Re: Investing

          ptn-

20 mil in sales, current mkt. cap, 140 million, been around since 86

          ctt-

5 mil in sales, mkt. cap 17 million, been around since 68

both are bio-tech companies, bio-tech is the most speculative sector of the market, which means that those who invest here know their chops, meaning they are professionals at what they do, and do it everyday, thus, your likely-hood of competing with them and winning is slim

          yet, ya nevah know

bottom line, stocks go up based on more folks buying then selling, more folks will buy them if their is good good good news that get's passed around, folks sell when bad news nevah stops

so, what's potential good news here, off hand see none

best good news is growth in sales, which leads to growth in profits and your biz being worth more, that's why s&p historically goes up, biz sell more over time and make more money, as a whole it's demographically driven, on an individual company basis, lot's more stuff involved

one company has had 20 yrs and the other one has had 40 years up at bat to GROW SALES, history, the facts say they don't do it well

          what's likely-hood that has changed

the magic 8 ball says NOT

on top of that, right now the market, economy as a whole is slowing, in that environment, speculative stocks get slaughtered, that is why they are at their lows, and have been going there for a year, unless tommorrow they find cure for cancer, history says they will go lower until the economy as a whole is rocking again and folks got extra money for speculative investments, that could be 4 years or more

          good luck
