  • 02- your architectural mind is needed

    question;

take a square that measures 1,000 feet from corner to corner and tell me how hard it would be to be a 1/2 inch (at worst point) out of level. All corners going from r-l are level, lets say corner 1-2-3-4 are the same but when measured from corner 2&4 it's off a 1/2 inch. Corners 1&3 are the same. I'm not mathmetician but cross measuring would be longer than 1000ft, correct?

how hard would this be to do with modern technology?

WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO NATE? MAKE MY MIND FRY? HOW ACCURATE DOES THE ANSWER NEED TO BE? WHAT ARE YOU MEASURING FOR? CARPET? TILE? OR JUST TRYING TO BAFFLE ME?

DEPENDS IF YOUR WANTING A DISTANCE OR IF YOUR WANTING VOLUME OF THE AREA SHOWING THE HEIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

So even with our technology today that would be quite and accomplishment?

It's nothing for me, just that it involves things that i have an interest in, things that blow my mind on how it was done....i'll let you know in a minute.

ITS JUST SO VAGUE OF A QUESTION. 1/2" STRETCHED OVER 1000 FEET WOULDNT BE MEASURABLE ALMOST ON ANY TAPE MEASURE A COMMON LABORER WOULD BE USING. SO THE ANNSWER YOU WOULD MOST LIKELY GET WOULD BE 1000 FT.

I COULD DRAW IT IN 3-DIMENSIONS IN 3-D STUDIO AND LIST THE LINE TO ACTUALLY GET AN ACCURATE DIMENSION. THATS HOW WE WOULD DO IT HERE AT THE OFFICE

Thats not what i meant. the distance between point a abd point b is a thousand feet. elavation/ level is only off a half inch from the two points. Point a is 1/2 higher than point b. This is a structure on the ground.

not to confuse you but its actually corners 2 and 4 that are off so the distance is actually greater than 1000 ft, right?

I'd say no, it still remains 1000 ft

the elevation shouldn't change the distance from point to point that much if anything

the height from point a will be higher.

im assuming this is a building you're talking about

                    ITS STILL 1000 FT.

NOW WHAT ARE YOU DOING? AND WHY ARE YOU ASKING?

                      ok...so it remains 1k ft...

It is a structure. It was built on non level ground. The entire square was leveled perfectly except the one corner. I only want to know how hard that would be today, with lazers, computers and all the equipment todays technology provides?

I would guess the easiest way would be to fill the other 3 corners to level out or laser cut out the extra elevation, but this could compromise the structures foundation. im no expert, i just stay at holiday inns

WITH THE TECHNOLOGY WE HAVE TODAY, IT COULD BE DONE ACCURATELY ON PAPER. BUT WITH HUMAN ERROR AND UNSKILED LABOR DOING THE CONSTRUCTION...YOUR LUCKY YOU GET ANYTHING ACCURATE THESE DAYS.

Now we are on the same page, sorry for the confusion. Its funny that you mention human error bc that has alot to do with what i'm getting at.

Check this out. The great giza pyramid in Egypt is known to be completed by 2,500 bc ( ground plans are noted back to 10,500 bc) 63 million lbs of stone where used to build it, most stones weighing 2,000lbs. The base measures 1,000 ft square. and all sides are identical ( i think it's 43 degrees)

All was done by humans with copper tools and precisely leveled withg a makeshift plum bob. Still, today, you cant take a modern level and place it on ANY stone and get anything but a perfectly level reading. No technology, crap tools ans they still got it as close as you can get to perfect. personally, thats bad ass.

there are three main pyramids on the Giza plane. Everyone a different size but all perfect...pretty damn cool!
