u are right.....my friend is on it and he showed me stuff that i could not believe what i was seeing..but all good, one day, they ll get sued and the site will be shut down

lets not go there...not everyone who has a page on myspace or wherever is looking for SEX. I've seen lots of clean websites that are about their music or art or what not or just friends chit chatting back and forth...i think for teenagers, it's the "in" thing right now...The internet is here to stay....times change and not always for the better...it's up to the parents to know what their kids are doing and teach them what is right and wrong...there have been sexual predators forever....instead of scouring the schools and playgrounds, now they are on the internet and I can bet they catch a lot more of them via internet now since nothing is really ever "private"

Well...you can get a domain name for your website/business/artist, music. I agree Lily....yes, there are some clean sites on myspace, yes parents should monitor their child's internet time/activity, but it sometimes cannot happen with every parent that works, etc.

oh i know...i was not meaning to gripe with you personally about it....
but the internet is here to stay and we have to deal with issues concerning it.....I know you can't be with your teens every moment but you need to teach them and keep them aware of things....and hope they listen....

I have a step daughter that is 9 right now and I'm just worried as hell about this type of stuff. Our plan is to not let her have internet access in her room EVER - and to make sure the computers in the house that do have internet access have loggind software and are in a common area of the house.
Another thing people need to be aware of is instant messaging. Now most kids don't even need a computer for that. They just set up the profile and then they can log on to AOL, MSN, Yahoo, or ICQ from their cell phones. It's really hard to track that.
But myspace has some good points. I don't have an account but my brother's band does and sometimes it's a great way to get some music. I remember Thrice released their whole new CD on myspace like a week before it was in stores.
MySpace started out as a way from local small bands to get their names known and music heard. It has now turned into a big waste of time for America's youth.
Holy crap! I just typed in my last name ans searched Myspace and I found a cousin. For those of you who know my last name you know it's not usual. Anyways, I was reading through this guys stuff and we are like twins seperated at birth. It's almost scary. I don't even those this guy. My dad had 12 siblings and most of them have several kids. Since my mom and dad seperated when I was 3 I never knew any of my cousins. I emailed him so we will see......
