Anti-Virus

I was wondering what a good anti-virus protection was out there and if there is a free one. Im going to be wiping my comp soon. Someone put one up in the Computer/Tech Forum awhile back before it was taken off.

I work on a government controlled site and they have McAffee and Black ICE installed on our machines. No virus problems. I also have McAffee at home, no problems there also. Works great for me. To get rid of all Spyware and such, I use SpyBot and Ad-Aware, which is also what is installed the work computers!

If you are looking for a free anti virus software, try AVG.
I have McAfee on my home computer and have no problems

I just use Mozilla Firefox as my IE and I never get pop ups or any BS on my computer.

^I think the Mozilla was what was posted, but they put up a link to get it free, but i can't find the thread. I will look for the AVG, but do i just do a search or is there a site to get it? Ive got the original software to reinstall the XP programs so i can wipe my hard drive, but i thought there was a program to set the original defaults and clean the hard drive, but i can't find it in the programs. I did it quite awhile ago, can't seem to remember, lol!

Whatever you do, dont use Freedom. I got 2 viruses using them.

We have mcaffee at work. We used to have problems with it. The PC crashed every few hours when using Clearcase and VC++. I don't recommand it.

At home I have AVG. No problem with it and it's FREE. You can download the personnal edition from here : http://www.free-av.com/down/windows/...win7u_en_h.exe

I use Opera as my browser since a few year. Small and as effective as mozilla but with less security holes.

KAV or Kaspersky Anti-Virus is the very best and what I use.
NOD32 is second best but I have no exp with it.
AVG is also good but I'm not talking about the free version.
Norton down right sucks.

bump I dont have the free version but well worth it ! does not use up too much memory
