The Leader of the House here in NC, Jim Black, had legislation passed not too long ago that all children entering kindergarten has to pass and eye exam. Not take an eye exam but pass one with glasses if necessary. One guess as to what his job was before he ran for office....an optomitrist. And he was on the NC board of optometry. The worse part about this is no one is saying spit about it. That is some shady spit if you ask me.
Interesting....I know here in FL before entering kindergarten they have to pass a physical (in which eye exam is given) from a physician and have immunizations up to date. But I'm sure if they failed the eye exam, they would be referred onto an optometrist/ophthalmologist if needed....but still allowed into kindergarten...I guess?
What's wrong with making sure your kid can see correctly? If your kid can't see what the teacher is writing on the board and got bad grades you'd be pissed right?
I think that it is great for your kids to see. My point is that the requirement is they have to PASS the eye exam. What if they dont pass it and their parents cant afford glasses. Do we leave those kids behind? It is obvious that he is just helping line his buddies pockets. I think that happens all to often in politics just not this blantantly.
