Hoaxes like this prey on a common misconception about viruses - it is physically impossible for a virus to damage a piece of hardware - they can only damage data that is contained within a piece of hardware.

Most if not all messages like this that float around the internet this way are hoaxes.

No problem man - it just goes to show how much time some people have on their hands to come up with things like this - I knew right away it was a hoax because there was another one very similar to this one floating around a few years ago called "Virtual Card For You", which threatened the exact same result.
