Re: i was in WAL-MART and a lady...

You live in the south don't you? If there is one thing about southern church goers is that for some reason many of them feel they have earned the right to tell you where you are at fault. Especially the older ones. Could it have saved your marriage, I don't know. I'd like think God can handle anything. But, even in the most religious families there are problems. I used to go to this very hard core Baptist church in GA where the women and girls were not allowed to wear anything but dresses or long skirts and the men must wear pants at all times. Even if they went water skiing, same rules. Well, the Pastor had an affair with one of the church staff. So, being in church will not preserve a marriage. However, two people who follow the maritial guidelines as laid out in the Bible probably stand a better chance than those who don't. It's because they have a clear picture of what their role is and how to treat their spouse and both people are on the same page. Anyways, sorry you had to deal with that bro. The self-righteous church goers are out of line.

God says divorce is a sin! If we sin we ask for forgiveness case closed! There are alot of extremists that say alot of things and condem alot of people in the "name of God", BUT they are way off track. People should not group religon, church and belivers in the same group as extremists. Churches get a bad name/rap from these extremists claiming to be doing Gods work and its a bunch of crap. just like these people that are protesting at funerals for war vets saying God hates the usa and the army cause there are homos in the military....its all crap! that lady had no right to tell space that, she has no idea what there peoblems were/are. Alot of the time we never know ourselves why things are happining to us or why they are falling apart. All we can do is trust in God and live our lives the best we can!

What she meant was: If you kept going to chruch, we could have influenced you (and your wife) enough to make you feel quilty for considering divorce. While she was thinking: I stayed married to the same a$$hole for 40 years because of quilt provided by the church and if I had to endure it, by god you should too.

You know, it's a total contradiction when they do that too. Christians are taught to NOT judge, period. And that should be that. But for some reason those who have mastered most the vices in their life feel they have earned the right to judge others. Then, everyone looks at the church like a bunch of self-righteous hypocrites. Me personally, I've done way too much bad stuff in my life to ever think I have a right to judge anyone. If anything, I can relate with them. But, when you get some of these life long do gooders who at the very worst got drunk once and smoked a cigarette, they think they can judge others for doing worse. Sin is sin, period. And everyone does it.

                      Matthew 7: 1-5

1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

And everyone does it.

                              and on that note

                              Christians are hypocrites
Christians, they love to talk about how loving, dutiful and compassionate they are, yet I have yet to meet ONE who does not practice hypocrisy to the highest degree. *Their willful ignorance of the Bible combined with their two faced idealism to preach it, has made us sick, hasn’t it? *For nearly two thousand years Biblicists have been lecturing people on the importance of adhering to the Bible’s teachings on ethics, manners, and morality. *They quote Jesus and Paul profusely, with a liberal sprinkling of Old Testament moralism. *The problem with their approach lies not only in an oft- noted failure to practice what they preach, but an equally pronounced tendency to ignore what the Bible itself, preaches. *Christians practice what can only be described as “selective morality”. *What they like, they cling to and shove down other’s throats; what they don’t like, they ignore vehemently.* That which is palatable and acceptable is supposedly applicable to all; while that which is obnoxious, inconvenient, or self-denying is only applicable to those addressed 2,000 years ago. *Their hypocrisy is so rampant that even the validity of calling oneself “Christian” is in question. I see so many people enjoy quoting the Ten Commandments, the Sermon on the Mount, and some of Paul’s sermons, but don’t even PRETEND to heed other, equally valid, maxims.

                              Hypocrisy of Marital Relationships:

So many Christians try to rationalize this but it is clear that a true follower of Jesus can neither divorce someone nor marry someone who is divorced. *There is an exception to the rule, however.* If spouse commits adultery, divorce is permissible. *On the same token, the Bible also says that anyone who obtains a divorce and marries another is in adulterer. *Remember that 80% of this country is Christian yet we have a 50% divorce rate. *A majority of divorces are a result of irreconcilable differences, not adultery, which implies that Christians are again practicing selective morality. *How many Christians are working on a second, third or fourth marriage?
                              1) “So they are no longer two but one flesh. *What therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder” (Matthew 19:6 & Mark 10:9).
                              2) “Whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery” (Matthew 5:32, 19:9 & Luke 16:18).
                              3) "Whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery" (Matthew 5:32).
                              4) "...whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her" (Mark 10:11 & Luke 16:18), which applies to women as well (Mark 10:12).
