my son called me from school real upset today. i drove to the school to find out that an officer was called and checked my son for weapons (he is 7 and goes to a middle class nice school)

evidently another student told a teacher that my son had a knife, all knives are forbidden at school.

they took this STUDENT'S word for it and pulled my boy out of class.

i was enraged! i yelled at the principal "dont you think i should have been notified before my son was frisked by a cop scarying the hell out of him!" he started gibbering like a kicked dog apologizing over and over. that their policy is there for the safety of the kids. and wouldnt divulge who complained but my son got into a scrap yesterday with another kid on the playground hmmmmm.....

i have called the school superindendant's office and have set an appt for later today.


i am shaking right now. this asshole should be glad it wasnt my wife because he would rather tickle a lion's nut sack with a hangnail than piss off my wife.

DAMN BRO...I FEEL FOR YA...SOMETIMES THE SCHOOLS TAKE IT TO FAR. I KNOW THIS AINT THE SAME THING, BUT MY YOUNG ONE ALREADY FIGURED OUT IF THET SCRATCH THE SAME PLACE, 2 OR 3 TIMES, THE SCHOOL MAKES US PICK THEM UP!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! BUT, YOUR BOY'S SCHOOL WENT WAY PAST THE LINE IMO!

Something similar happened to a buddy of mine, he got a lawyer and before it went too far, he got a formal appology and all sorts of shit. At least threaten them with a lawyer, even if you don't go through with it.

I would contact your local PD and file a complaint against the officer as well.

I don't really know the law as it relates to minors, but i do think all they need reasonable cause to search his locker etc, but i think they have to notify the parent/guardian before doing a body search? I maybe wrong, but i know in some instances minors are treated as though they have no rights.

evidently even though he is a minor if there is a perceived threat he can be searched without me allowing it even though in this case i dont feel there was one.

i am done. i kept my cool. the super admitted that in this case where there was no immediate threat to anybody that i should have been called. i understand the policy is for the good of the students but the principals have to have the ability to apply these rules equitably and be able to use their judgent to lessen the disruption it causes for the student.

Absolutely! That's bullshit right there. You must be present before they can frisk a minor on a bullshit story like that. It's one thing if your child was seen pointing the knife at people, but here say is bullshit. The principle should have asked him to empty his pockets and show him his locker and that should have been it. I would surely file a complaint on the officer for acting on here say and not notifying you before he searched your son. Then, I think your son nees to kick the shit out of the littel bastard that did this. Punk as ***** kids. This is the direction this country is going with all the Liberal influence. In stead of being big enough to admit defeat in the fight he goes and complains and makes up bullshit. Typical Liberal reaction to problems. Complain, make acusations, make up lies, and cause a bunch of trouble for no reason other than he was too much of a ***** to take what he got. You know he gets that shit from his parents. I tell you right now, if my son gets his butt wooped and he does something like that, he wont be able to sit down for a week. You take your beating and you learn from it, you don't make up lies. That's just going to get you another beating. At least, that's how it was in ATL where I grew up.

sucks bro, but with all the violence in schools going on you shouldn't be too offended. It's one thing if they treat him like a criminal. It's a whole different thing if they are just checking to make sure he doesn't have any weapons.

What if someone reported some other kid had a weapon and they waited to call the parent, meanwhile that kid went and shot or worse yet killed your son. Wouldn't you be enraged that the school didn't pull him aside and just look to make sure the rumor wasn't true? Nothing would bring your son back, no law suit, no apologies, NOTHING! So obviously all though it might piss you off that your son was pulled aside, it's better safe than sorry. They don't need to treat him like a criminal, just tell him they heard a rumor and they are just making sure that it wasn't true.

I would like to add though that if the officer implied in any way that your son was doing wrong, if he treated him like a criminal, or did anything but check his stuff, then I would sue. Also remember a cop was called because the school knows that if they check your son that they are opening themselves up to lawsuits. Trust me I'm not siding with government, or authoritative figures. I'm merely trying to point out that kids do bring weapons to school and it's not something to take lightly.

But if it's found that he didn't have anything then the kid that opened his mouth should get in serious shit for saying something before he was absolutely positive!
