  • Anyone good with stereo recievers ??

I've got a high dollar Yamaha reciever sound system and I'm wondering if I can hook up a seperate Aiawa(?) shelf stereo to it to run my cd's ?? I've tried several different things but cant seem to get it to work. Any ideas ??

I've got a high end Yamaha reciever myself. Awesome recievers!

Anyway....To answer your question, you cannot hook up your shelf system to the reciever unless your shelf system has outputs for the cd unit. I personally have never seen a shelf system have outputs for the cd player because they have their own built in reciever so in all essence there is no need for external hookups. So most likely your out of luck on that one.

Out of curisosity, if you look on the back of the shelf system are their any red/white outs? if so write down what each output says next to it and I may be able to walk you through how to rig it. Again, I highly doubt you have outs you probably only have inputs.

Actually, on the shelf system red/white's it doesnt say whether they are in or out. It just says Video/Aux next to them. I left the manuals for the reciever at my parents house which I'll be getting tomorrow, so maybe that will clarify a couple things. I tried hooking up my Sanyo tv too and I get nothing. Should be pretty easy.

you can take the speaker wires from the shelf stereo and splice RCA jacks to one end of it plug the RCA side of the speaker wire into an AUX jack on the yamaha reciever and the other in the speaker terminals on the shelf stereo
