I'm going to be in Dallas soon for appoximately 1 week for a conference. I've never been there before and I'll be staying downtown at the Hilton. Any suggestions on good restaurants, clubs, lounges, shopping, site seeing?

Re: Dallas
Can you rent a car?
Not alot of public transportation.
Eat up top of the hilton in the ball, try and do it when dusk turns to dark. It is a hell of a site and you can see for 50 miles or so.
West End, you're right there, good walk but it's alot of different restaurants, and night clubs. If it's a good temp night.
Deep Ellum, that's opposite of where you will be 7 miles or so, on the east side of down town, you are on the west edge. It's funky city, funky everything, where the 20-30's that are avant garde hang.
Greenville Avenue, just north of deep ellum by 5 or so miles. Older area of restuarants and clubs. It is where the more corporate 20-30's hang, lol.
My No. 1 reccomendation, if'n you want to see cowboys and cowgirls in action, and the tast of texas, go to Red River on Thursday Night. It's a cowboy bar, north of you by ten miles, live band, ladies night etc. , from 10:30 to 12:30 you will see ACTION, lol , meaning it will be packed, people, dancers, drinkers, smokers, it's a great place, lot's of fun.
Other reccomendation is take a drive and go to Fort Worth, and see Fort Worth's downtown. It has a nice safe a bustling dowtown, yet, the folks are as different as night and day, and they are only 35 miles away.
