First how low is the sperm count ( in Millions).? Also has his free testosterone been checked? HCG is the most common drug used for low sperm and for atrophy. If he is seeing an endocronologist for treatment, have him ask the dr. about being treated with it. If not, my suggestion from my dr was 1000IU 3-4 times ew (a wk) for a month, then getting it re-checked. If it is still low then continue treatment for up to 6months. For atrophy it is only 500IU-1000IU 3 times ew, but your friend needs at least 1000IU an inject. I would also tell him to make sure he is getting plenty of Vit-C (1500mg ed) and fresh oranges or oj also, zinc 50mg ed, saw palmetto 600mg ed- you can get in capsule form and is very good for maintaining a healthy prostate, NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine 1200mg ed. Absolutely no herbals, especially ephedra (Mau Haung), and no trib. This goes for her as well. I will add, getting good nights sleep (at least 8hrs for a man), and eating plenty for fresh veggies/fruits, water, and a good diet are also needed for a health body. Also, make sure he does not take a hot shower/tub before sexual intercorse or wear tight fitting pants/underwear. Boxers are the best. Also has she been checked? Sometimes lack of fertility can come from both sides, and actually the first step is for you both to go see a reproductive endo together. There is a test they can do to see if her mucosa is possibly killing his sperm before it gets to her cervix. It is not too uncommon, but treatable. There is also a bacteria that you can pass to one another and not know it that can kill the sperm, and is treated with an antibiotic taken by both. She should also, just to be on the safe side have her hormones, like FHS and Estradiol checked and a complete ob/gyn exam. There you have it!
