In Massachusetts Boston metro area.. right in the city one bedroom apartment is around $2500 or even more.. theres really no houses in downtown only condos.. condos run $1 mill and above.. so if you wanna live in the city where all tall buildings are you must make btw 100 grand a year or even more. Houses around Boston (suburbs) 1 family around $450 to 500 grand.. and people who live in Suburbs probably make 33 to 40 grand a year.. now if its a nice area a single family home could be up to 600 to 800 grand.. easily..

In Florida you can get a house for single family with a swimming pool for like 150 to 180 grand.. in Boston you can`t get a trailer..

Boston is increasing prices in everything.. houses..apartments...food..gass...oil..electric..E VERYTHING but they dont increase your salary.. so f*ck that..and not everyone makes even 60 to 80 grand a year..

The most I ever made was close to 80 grand a year and this was few years ago when I used to work for this network security CISCO company..now I barely make 40 grand.. as armed security officer..

no, i have been to NYC several times... too expensive, too many people, too big, and the people talk weird.. south is what i prefer, where the people talk right...

So what? are you trying to tell us you live in an expensive neighborhood, or just venting, lol? Id say San Fran, CA and Honolulu, HI are prob the most expensive for housing. I was checking housing in San Fran, and for about 800K you get like a two story duplex, lol!, In Honolulu 800k will buy what looks like a manufactured house, anything that resembles say a 2,000sft home that is custom built will run at least 1 million or more.

I live in Boston - well, outside of Boston really - and it is definitely too expensive. I don't see how there are so many high paying jobs out there that alows people to buy/sell condos and homes for so much money. It really is ridiculous. Now I have only lived here the last 5 years, so I am not from Boston and have no bias toward it - but I would definitely live in Boston over NYC. NY has a lot of things, but there is just too much. Too many people, too much traffic, too much for apartments (more than Boston obviously), too much money for everything, and the pay is only marginally better. Boston is a beautiful city, unlike NYC which comes only in shades of concrete. The only place where you ever see a tree is in central park. And boston is also a much cleaner city, with much lower crime. For me its not even a contest - Boston all the way.

At some point you are right. But its the "nightlife" that attracts me to NYC. Boston is much quiet(ER) city.. and it is cleaner.. NYC is covered with graffiti.

WHEN ME AND MY WIFE DECIDED TO MOVE FROM FL., I AGREED WE'D LOOK AT NY (FOR HER CHOICE) AND MICHIGAN (MINE)....NO FRIGGIN WAY WOULD I MOVE TO NY! THAT TOOK ABOUT 15MINS FOR ME TO DECIDE...GREAT TO VISIT, BUT THEN I GET TO GO HOME! SO WE WENT TO MICH. WHERE I MAKE 40K LESS A YEAR AND PAY 2-3X'S THE COST OF LIVING THAN I DID IN FL. (I FEEL SOOOOOOO STUPID SOMETIMES!!!)

my boy is moving to baskingridge new jersy for a job. it is a 60% increase in the cost of living from here in Texas. his house here cost about $200k and is really nice up there a comparable house is 3/4 of a million because every thing is on acreage

i will stay here in Texas no desire to go north

I love my city, New York City.

I own an apartment on the upper west side, by Trump Tower. You need to make over 100k a year to live OK in NYC.
