  • WWE To Implement Drug-Testing Program

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Professional wrestling is ready to take down drug and steroid use.

World Wrestling Entertainment said it's starting random drug testing to detect illicit drugs, steroids and prescription drug abuse among its performers.

The policy follows the death of one of pro wrestling's biggest stars, 38-year-old Eddie Guerrero, just before a show. His widow said he was showing signs of heart disease that she blamed on drug and alcohol abuse and aggressive exercising.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon said the random tests will be conducted by an independent agency and will be fair. More details of the new testing procedure will be released in the coming weeks.

WWE's wrestling programming is among the highest-rated shows on cable television.

Don't bet on it. Several years ago, there was the big steroid scandal where a doctor was arrested fro prescribing and providing anabolics to WWE wrestlers. Vinny Mac was named as the man who pushed the wrestlers into taking them. Hulk Hogan testified AGAINST Vince McMahon in the scandal. No one went down, nothing happened except what Viny Mac called "Stricter testing." The type of stricter testing was the same type of testing most pro bodybuilders go through. In other words, they would say "OK. Today is December 5th. On January 21st, I need you to go to Doctor Smiths office and submit a urine test....." Honestly, do you think Vinny Mac is stupid? Are people going to pay to watch guys with physiques like Batista and Triple H, or guys with physiques like Spike Dudley and the 123 Kid?

BS, they've had testing. I knew some guys from WWF personally and they would tell me that they would get the heads up way in advance. They say it's 'random' but it's not. The WWE would not sell anywhere as many tickets if those guys weren't are swoll. They will continue to do the same thing as before and say it's 'random' but it wont be. There's way too much money involoved.

They will probably do more education about it behind closed doors. Just look at Sting. He used to be a big boy once upon a time ago but he had some trouble from gear and dropped it. Atleast that's the story I got from another wrestler who knew him personally. The gear will continue, they will just have to get smarter about using it.

Re: WWE To Implement Drug-Testing Program

Vince McMahon uses them himself so whats the big deal ?? then he should drugtest himself first. 80% of WWE superstars use steroids and growth hormone. Look at Batista or that dude Chris Masters. They look fantastic but heavy AAS/GH users. WWE wouldnt be where are they today if it wasnt for the big juicehead monsters.

You said it! And it's not just this statement that's for show, you can be they'll work some "failed drug tests" into the storylines in the future. They'll do anything for ratings - they completely crossed the line with that retarded wrestler, that was f*cked up! I wish the WWE would just let Eddie RIP instead of marketing his death into a money-making angle. But Oliver Stone is filming a 9/11 movie so I guess it really is all about the money and nothing is off limits anymore.
