You gotta hear this thing fly by. It's that sweet v-twin sound that only a ducati can make. The Rc-51 not quite there.
    #1 Ducati 916
    #2 1998 Yamaha R-1
    #3 2004 Yamaha R-1

      Re: Evil's top 3 Bikes

I love Ducati. The first bike I rided was a ducati 600 mostro.
The 916 is the most beautiful bike of all times. It has a class very few bikes have. The designer is a genius. Then it's great engine. Power does not make all.
I had the chance to ride a 748. Even if it's a bit less powerfull than my cbr that's a realy efficient bike for those who inderstood the manual lol
I'm still not convinced they are very reliable. They are not a tool to go to work every day but they are great to have fun on week-end!

What model Ducati was the character, Trinity, riding in the movie "Matrix Reloaded?" It looked like an awesome bike!

I meant 999, damn no edit button!
the 999 is just the latest evolution of the model.
the 916 came out first and is arguably one of the most beautiful and influential bikes ever. the 996 came next, and the 999 is the most recent. so yeah, the 999 is better than the 916 in terms of technology, etc., but the 916... will always be the one that started it all, to me anyway.

I don't like much the design of the 999. It's not ugly but I prefer the 916/996.
I think ducati started making a very efficient bike with the 888, then the 916 came out and it had both a great engine and a great face
Another thing that that is good with ducati bikes it's they always consume less oil than japanese bikes. Italian engineer are great!

what type? sportbike? first thing to do, even before you get a bike, is to take a beginner motorcycle class - it's cheap, they provide the bikes, and it will save your life...

Then you're looking at 600s. 600s are a lot of power for a beginner, but if you respect it you'll be fine. And you won't outgrow it anytime soon. Look at Honda CBR600s (the F4i if you can swing it), or Suzuki GSX-R600s. If you don't care as much about the go-fast image and want a much better all-round bike, look at the Yamaha FZR600, the Suzuki Bandit 600, or any of the other naked bikes in this engine range. What's most important is how you feel on it, so you gotta go at least sit on a few to get an idea of the ergonomic differences. How tall are you and how much do you weigh?
