Re: Anybody listen to hip hop

I like the vintage Wu-Tang Clan albums (everything before The W). I also like old Mobb Deep, Helta Skelta, Smif-n-Wesson, Roots, Cypress Hill, DMX. I'm starting to get into this new dirty south stuff like Paul Wall, Lil' Jon and the like, but I prefer to listen to old East coast stuff. 50 Cent isn't bad but he doesn't compare to rap from the mid to late 90's.

Only thing I really love right now is Living Legends. Most of the rest - just too MTVized gangster for me. I like good solid simple beats with funny smart lyrics. I still think the old stuff was better - Ice Cube, Del, Mix-a-lot's Swass, Pharcyde... and especially Tribe.

I agree that everything is MTVized. Everything is made for da clubs. I can't imagine listening to candy shop at home. Lol
