  • joined a new gym

well guys, i finally f'ed off the Y last weekend. joined peak fitness, where i get a "metro" pass for $25/mo. pretty good deal considering they have about 7 gyms in my area.

it is really good to be in a new place! and i hate to say it, because i'm no bigot by any stretch, but it is really good to be away from all the ghey shit that goes down at the Y. sheesh...

the only thing i don't like is that they have those dumbells with the rubber coating on them, so they are HUGE once you go into the three digits. i swear the 130's are three feet long. i don't get that....

another thing that is bad is the huge amount of hammer strength they have- i have to watch it or my lazy ass will be doing those things instead of the free weights! j/k i am glad to have them there as a way to switch up every once and a while.

    loads of hot women too

    Re: joined a new gym

Sounds great bra ! I joined a new gym a coupla months ago too, what a diffrence it made in me and my attitude. My gym was quiet and boring as a church, nothing but elderly folks and no atmosphere what so ever. I need some competition and drive. And a lil eye candy helps too. Friday im going to join a Kempo studio, really looking foward to that.

I HEAR YA NISH, I'M IN THE SAME BOAT BUT I WASN'T AT THE Y, I'VE BEEN AT THE SAME PLACE SINCE 2000 AND IT'S STARTING TO WEAR ON ME, IT HASEN'T CHANGED AT ALL, EXCEPT THIS IS THE 3rd OWNER IN 5 YEARS, THE ONLY OTHER GYM I CAN GO TO SPECIALIZES W/ HAMMER STRENGTH, HAS ALL THE RUBBER DUMBELLS AND ALOT OF WOMEN, I THINK I WOULD BE LOST FOR AWHILE BECAUSE MY CURRENT GYM IS TOTAL OLD SCHOOL, I LIKE IT THAT WAY, RUSTIC WEIGHTS AND OLD MACHINES EVERYTHING LOOKS LIKE IT WAS WELDED IN SHOP CLASS AND I DON'T KNOW ANYONE THAT LIFTS HEAR, AT THIS NEWER FACILTY W/ THE HAMMER STRENGTH AND RUBBERS I HAVE SOME CO-WORKERS AND GOOD FRIENDS THAT LIFT THERE, A POSSIBLE DISTRACTION, I DON'T THINK I WOULD LAST W/ THERE EQUIPMENT OR ALL THE OTHER DOCTORS AND LAWYERS AND THERE CARDIOTALK BULLSHIT, WHAT DOES EVERYONE ELSE THINK OF HAMMER STRENGTH AND RUBBER WEIGHTS, NEVER USED EIGTHER? THIS IS KILLING ME TO DECIDE WERE TO GO MY NEXT CYCLE IS COMING UP SO I HAVE TO SETTLE IN SOMEWHERE BEFORE I START.

        Re: joined a new gym

yeah tram i prefer the old school setups myself... i had been at the Y since 2000 and i REALLY needed a change of scenery.

i am able to tune out the distractions for the most part...

i like hammer strength... as far as machines go they can't be beat. i've been doing a free weight only program for the past two years, so a mix up would probably do me alot of good.

i have to say it, but they have a squat machine that actually feels pretty good! with my knee i can't do free squats right now, so i've been using it and it gets me damn sore. no replacement for frees, but until i heal...

my only gripe with the rubber coated dumbells is the size really; it's a bit absurd IMO. other than that... i suppose they last longer though.

you might be surprised what a change of scenery will do for ya. if you are worried about people bothering you then get some headphones or you can always be mildly rude when people talk to you... they always get the hint. works like a charm
