Re: Personal Trainers don`t know crap !!

Bally's tends to sink most of their dollars into the higher end areas, not the middle class suburbs, lol! I have been to both and i must say, most every time i have seen a PT with a client it was someone that was not disciplined or would even follow simple directions correctly. I have seen the expressions of dismay when these PT's will try dilligently to work with some ppl and they are stopping every 2 minutes to talk or stop before their time is up. Alot of them seem like they are looking for a friend or to talk to other than make a difference in their appearance or a particular prob they might be having. The ppl in shape there don't tend to use PT's.

I`ve been to many gyms now..golds, worlds, mike`s gym, superfitness, YMCA, City Fitness and more.. I must say one World Gym I`ve been to is probably the best one I`ve seen so far.. its just amazing when you walk in.. you have these real cool showers, hair salons, spa`s, tanning, saunas, nutrition place..and each and every personal trainer whether its a female or a male they look like they are competing.. but its close to 1000 grand a year.. with the contract. I`ve also been in popular SuperFitness a 4000square feet gym some pros train at this place (Dexter Jackson, and Chris Cook) it has like 50 bench presses, 50 cable cross overs.. no matter how many members they have the machines are always avaliable..

Now, the reason why I signed up with Bally`s its because its very close to my home, 5 min driving and..its a nice gym with fairly nice crowd - everyones friendly..it has a nice mens lockeroom, showers are great.. also it has a big ass pool..and jacuzzi so its good.. also they use IVANKO weights and machines so its perfect. 29$ a month 2yr contract.

There are some who know there stuff, but at Bally's it far and few between. Bally's is a money money money gym and they rape their trainers. Why the hell would a good trainer go there and get 50% or less of the fee? The good ones don't. There is a gym here in my town that probably has better trainers than any one gym I've ever been to. The owner, a good buddy of mine, doesn't charge the trainers anything. Not one cent, so as you can imagine, he gets a lot of wanabe trainers. He's a former BB with an outstanding record. He won several big shows but wasn't willing to do the GH necessary to go pro. Anyways, he knows his stuff and has been around the sport for 25 years. Also, he is good friends with Charles Pliquin who trains at his gym from time to time. Anyways, when trainers come to his gym he has one rule, they must train him on three sessions. If they do a bad job they get the boot, if the do a good job they get a job. I have so much respect for how he does this. Even though he makes no money, he still requires the best for his members. The how a gym should be run, the custome is number one. You do that, and the rest takes care of itself.
Funny Tmann, I've been contemplating opening a gym in my area that would be specificaly for body builder types. It would only have free weights & machines for free weights. When I saw your comments I laughed because that was exactly what I planned on doing. I figured if I don't charge a trainer any money and just make sure he knows what he was doing, I'd end up with some quality trainers. Not only would this benefit my customers more because the caliber of trainers would be superior to the other gyms around, but it would make my gym more appealing by offering better services. I think your friends got his head on straight and knows what he's doing!

For the most part all gyms I've been to throughout my life had a bunch of guys that had no clue what they were talking about. I never got any results when I was with them. As soon as I did my own thing and researched myself I started getting results. Point is if only I had a trainer that new his stuff I would have been farther faster. Sure a few trainers are good at the franchise gyms but they are few and far between!

Wow another one for the record, I actually agreed with Tmann!

No offense, but you're gonna go broke. And saying that "there are a few good trainers at the franchise gyms but they are few and far between" is about as narrow minded as you can get.

Diggler, you ARE gonna go broke, man! Starting a gym for bodybuilder types only?? What the hell do you even need trainers for if that's the case!!?? And face it...no hot aerobics instructors in hot pink leotards means no money, man.

aren't they great? I remember when the candyman was younger, before he was a player in the Iron Game. He used to go to gyms and pull a chair up behind the hot chicks on the stairmasters and throw dollar bills at them! Those were the days, man...

I'll tell you everytime I had a pt in franchise gyms they always sucked! They never knew what they were talking about, and they didn't understand that exercises that worked for people that are naturally large aren't going to yield the same results for a hardgainer. I never got any results from their crap ass regimines! I'm not saying that all franchise pt's aren't good because that would be a stupid statement in and of itself. I'm just saying that of my personal experience most of those guys really had no clue what was going on and frankly didn't give a shit! Again, that was only my personal experience and I've been in multiple gyms in NY, & Maryland. Golds, Bally's, and Buffalo athletic club.
