    Surgery This Week

    Unfortunately on Fri. of this week Im having to go under the knife to get a small tear in my lower abdominal wall fixed. (hernia) I have had a pain for about 3 weeks and after my legs day on Tuesday of last week it got real bad and formed a lump. So long story short I went to the doc. on Friday and he sent me directly to the surgeon to schedule the procedure.

    The timing really sucks b/c I have just got everything in line for my next cycle but s*** happens sometimes.

    Anyone ever had a procedure of this type. Id like to know what to expect. Recovery time etc.....

    i had it couple years ago depends which way they are gonna do it ....i had it done orthascpopically the mad small cut in my belly button and did it with a scope. recovery time was just a few weeks ....if you doc actually cuts you open then recovery time is much longer.

      yeah he is going to do the procedure orthroscopically (sp.), and insert a patch of braided fabric to the abdominal wall to prevent any reoccurence.

        I have never had surgery for anything like that but I have had 4 other surgeries in the last year and a half. I don't know if you ever had surgery before but there is really nothing to worry about. You go into the operating room and it feels like you just blinked and its over and you are in a different room. When you wake up you are so pumped full of drugs you wont give a shit about anything.

              Yeah, its not the surgery, or the pain that im worried about. Its the recovery time. A close friend of mine got a pretty severe hernia during a call one night to a car fire, he is a firefighter and had to get the same surgery and was back at the gym 2 weeks later doing sit ups. Hopefully the same will apply to me. I just hate being out of the gym.

                      Well its been about three and a half weeks since the surgery, and everything has gone very well. The procedure wasn't bad at all except when they woke me up after surgery from being under anesthesia (sp) my surgeon said that I woke up and went crazy and pulled my o2 sensor and iv out of my arm. But the surgery was on a Fri. and Sunday afternoon I went out and washed my truck and cleaned the house. But other than that I think I can start back at the gym this week and try to recover the lost time.
