  • Mt. Jefferson this saturday !

Well this is it,.. I'm gonna make an attempt at Jeff this weekend. I'm hoping to do it with a bro of mine, and a coupla his buddies who got a few climbs under their belts. I feel like im gettin' stale y'all.. I haven't done anything major since I lost my best bro/climbing partner to tweek. I need to up my status. I'm planning on hitting the trail round 02:00 saturday so I can be off by noon, when temps will be in the 90's. It's gonna be a long scree slog but a cooler full a iced longnecks will make it all worth the while. It's not just a climb, it's self fullfillment and achieving a goal. Ya feel like a different person when you come down from a hard climb. Coming back and seeing all the flatlanders with a mocha in their hand and cell phone stuck to their heads. Hmm..kinda like being on Fina. If I gotta do it solo so be it, nothing too technical jus would be nice to share the high.

It's 3199 metres or 10,497 feet. And yes, it is addicting. Especially when you come back and show all the pics and stories to your family and bro's. But then again, it doesn't seem to hit'em as much since it was you that did it and not them. So it's only those who do these things that are the ones who can truely understand the fullfillment ya get from it.

I jumped my climbing partners ass yesterday for blasting away with my 45 without even asking me first, so it looks like im doing it solo in a week or sooner. However, my girlfriend said she'd go up there and do a coupla trails with me. Would rather have a chick with me anyway right ? besides we can work on her lil bondage fantasy out there.

Well I see what im up against,.. round 09:00 it was 83 degrees ! a bit of snow at the red saddle (crux) but otherwise very hot and dry. Im gonna go for it in a coupla for weeks. Sad news,.. at 14:30 saturday, radio reported a 23 female colledge student had slipped and taken a 700ft fall from a ledge off Three Fingered Jack, (60mi's or so south of Jeff) during her decent down the trail mind ya ! Thats probally the fourth or so climbing fatality in the last few weeks, and not to mention all the drownings. Atleast one a week (rip tides, logs, and river currents). Lets play hard and be careful out there y'all !
