Re: about damn time!!!!!!!!
To be honest, I disagree.
What purpose would this law serve? All I see is another law that limits an individuals rights and freedom of expression only because other people "don't like it". To most people, the american flag represents "freedom".. freedom to do whatever you want, so long as it does not negatively effect another person's safety, health, or property.
IMHO, making it illegal to burn the flag is against everything the flag stands for.RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.

I thought it was a good thing until you put it that way now I'm scratching my head, but still leaning towards the no burn, because I feel some people should just have their rear ends kick up between their shoulders.HE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!

Re: about damn time!!!!!!!!
the flag does represent freedom and alot of things . i do see your point GG.
let just says this ... at our gym we have a couple of mexican guys from mexico up here to work for a while. one day the news was on and they just happen to be checkin in. on the news was some protesters burning the american flag. to my shock..these to mexican guys ( not american) told me how that was wrong etc..
to me just my opinion our freedom wasnt gave to americans it was fought for yrs ago ..and still today. the flag also represents the people who lost their lives and fought for this freedom and in my opinion should be respected. freedom in our country dont mean do whatever the heck u want cause your free or their would be no need for laws etc.If bigger is better then im better than ever !

Re: about damn time!!!!!!!!
hurray for another liberty stripped.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not for "flag burning". I'm just against telling someone what they can or can't do with their own time and their own money.
To me, it's much more than a flag, but to them it's a piece of cloth that symbolizes something they hate. Let em burn it, i wouldn't want them disgracing it by actually flying it. When a flag touches the ground it must be burned. In my opinion when the flag touches the hand of an unpatriotic dirty hippie, it should be burned anyway, so let em do the job for ya.
I hate our government, I hate bush, i hate conservative AND liberal morons. However, on the day we become a police state, i'll be flying an american flag on my "borrowed" pickup truck when i run the first blockade. They can strip my rights one by one... but they can't take my country, god damn it.I run suicide drills over and over with the weight of the world on my shouders... I'm far from being god, but i work god damn hard.

Re: about damn time!!!!!!!!
I heard a quote from one of the american armed forces recently. Apparently he had just returned from Iraq where he had suffered a minor injury.
Unfortunately, there was a cloud of protesters there to great him along with supporters and family. When questioned about the protestors by a TV reporter, he replied with "I may not agree with what they are saying, but I'll fight to the death for their right to say it." I don't really agree with the war.. but after hearing that, I wished I could walk up and shake that mans hand.
I think the same sort of thing applies to the flag as well.RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.

I would like to be able to punch stupid people when they do stupid shit, but the law prevents me from doing it. And lets be honest, stupid people could use a good punch every now and then to let them know they are doing something stupid. But bruning the flag serves no purpose at all.

All the hundreds of thousands of men who have died so we can have the flag should be respected. I don't think it takes away any rights. What purpose does it serve to burn the flag? None, it is used as a demonstration to protest America. There are other ways to protest than to disgrace the American flag.

I'm all for freedom of speech, but not freedom of buring the flag. There is a difference.
