Distilled Vinegar! It smells like all hell but it will totally kill the pain. The best thing to do is get in the shower and have your wife pour in on the areas that are most sensitive. For your face, use a wash cloth.
This works great and it lasts. Everytime I've used it I don't think I ever had to do it more than once for that sunburn.I used to have superhuman powers....until my therapist took them away.
