    Re: the 5'8'' club

bro, i'm sorry. i miss lead you. i wasnt talking about boxing. i meant like grab hold and throw down...most fights i've been in (it's been awhile!) it happens so fast, their was no time for setting your feet, getting your blocker up, damn...it was just grab, through down and start wailin!!! i guess the longer arms can cover a guys face better as you pound on it....not alot of planned fights at the party's i went too.

        Re: the 5'8'' club

first you guys are talking street fights and now its turned into boxing...make up your minds lol....first off, having a reach advantage only helps you when you know how to use a jab correctly (most don't) jabs create the distance and keeps your oppenent at bay. Heavy handed punchers are easy to slip and get by, people that know how to jab will use it to snap your head back and then follow with the ko punch. most people just throw heavy punches in a street fight, against an experienced fighter they would get fucked up rather quickly.

Now take this into consideration: I used to box for x amount of years..it was fun and allbut now i'm into Mui Thai and have learned how to use my elbows and knees for close range fighting. My point? bring that shit inside and see what happens to you lol...I'll get you with my range and then bust you head open with an elbow....gotta love that shit!

thats what I'M talkin 'bout!! when i was in school (8-12 grade) me and my cusin would go to parties and there'd always be the big dudes hangin together, jackin with the littler guy's. we was a littler guy!! we'd(not together!!) grap them, throw them down and start beeting the piss oughta them. something about a guy getting his nose popped and lipped split that calm's him down. sure, we got our asses beat once or twice, not as offten as you'd think, but hell if you beat there ass...you the bad ass...if you loose, what 'd you expect, thier TWICE OUR SIZE!! win, win...and chicks love scars!! lol

Most guys try to "hockey fight" they grab for your shirt and try to throw haymakers with their good arm only. Two things will fix this.... 1. Take your shirt off before you fight (some people think your just trying to look cool but it could save you from a busted up face). And 2. Use the jab! You can also take one of those guys to the ground.... Wrap them up and beat the piss out of them if you know what your doing...

I have only a little boxing training from my old man, but I would love to try muay thai. Unfortunately there is no one in the area who teaches it!!
I agree 100%, experience, and being sober, make all the difference in street fights. I come from a wrestiling background. I took martial arts and found out very quickly that I'm a grappler. Sure, I wont deny an opportunity to use a strike but I'd rather take a few hits on the way to the ground. I've yet to lose a fight that went to the ground. That even includes a 3 on 1 I got once in Buckhead. I threw this guy out of a night club right before closing and he and his two buddies waited for me. Well, they got me and got me down and that was the last mistake they made. Once it became obvious they really phuked up going to the ground, one took off running (*****) and the other two got their asses beat. For the record, they were all drunk and they were all smaller than me so it really wasn't that hard to gain control. Had they kept me standing they would have had a much better chance. I'm not a good striker. I got a great ko punch but I lack the set up skills needed to make it effective. I could use some training on striking but I don't fight anymore so I don't see the point. All I do now is go to a couple grapling classes every now and then. I got a buddy who has a grappling school here in town and it's fun to learn new submission holds. In my experience no one ever expects to be put in a submission hold in a street fight and they usually give in REAL fast.
I used to have superhuman powers....until my therapist took them away.

Everybody thinks they're a bad ass until they put into an arm bar....even the biggest of mofo's will cry like a little girl. I hear it all the time " I think i could fight in the UFC " my reply is always the same " here, check this out"*arm bar* "yeah, thats what i thought" lmao!

UFC is no joke! any type of fighting isnt really... heres something funny... If Michael Jordan was like "Lets make a 1,000 dollar bet i'll beat you 1on1 in bball" No one would call him on the bet, bc they know MJ is good at bball and knows whats up... However, let's say a 170 lb pro fighter thats not really a household name comes up to some ego driven dude and offers the same bet instead it would be 1000 for mma/boxing or what have you" a lot of dumb shits would call b/c A LOT of people think they can fight.

There is an IFC circuit that runs around my area, its kinda like a farm league for UFC...All the same rules apply. I was speaking of that, not the actual UFC....That said, average joe toughguy has no chance with any of the IFC fighters....Like i said, i'm a trained fighter and i get the shit kicked out of me by guys that are 50 lbs lighter. It aint no joke, thats for sure!

I like to stay on my feet, i have a boxing/akido background. i just enjoy when people come up to me talking shit and push me or get in my face with their hands out to there sides. if someone ever pushes u they dont want to fight. If u wanted to hurt someone would u push them? no. it just funny when guys make all this noise and get knocked out before they even knew what happen.

if it goes to the ground I can hold my own, but i once got my ass handed to my by a wrestler. He shot on me and before i knew it i hand my hands over my head, laying on my stomach and he was kneeing my face. he kneed me so many times he had to switch legs cause one got tired. with each knee i prayed for unconsciousness. It was a long time ago but it was reality check and half.

80% of fights end up on the ground, people should realize that.
