Just picked up a cell phone for my soon to be 15 year old daughter. Her birthday is in less than 2 weeks. I feel sick to my stomach - I think I'm going to puke. God help me with my new cell phone plan.

j/k gookman, i'm actually suprised that she doesn't have a cell phone already. You should be proud of yourself for holding out this long. You will feel safer with her having it though. Now you can get to her no matter where she's at...

"Look honey, I got you this nice little satelite phone that can track you wherever you go." all you have to do is supply her with endless ringtones and she wont even here you say that and you'll be capable of knowing things she doesn't.So when you ask her where she's been, you have her, dead to rights...

of course you need a gps/satelite phone for that, you prolly got her the newest camera phone...didnt you?

LOL. I just got her a basic phone for now - with text messaging capabilities. She doesn't need the cameras, video, etc... She's been extremely diligent in her school work As & Bs and has demonstrated that she can be responsible. Let's just hope she doesn't drop the ball on this one. Where's that bucket again? LOL!

I don't know?? I guess im old fashioned, but what does a 15yr old need a cell for?? Only thing i can think of is calling gf's and boys, lol! Im with Fuzz on this one.

just explain the details of the plan and make sure she know how to find out how many minutes she has used that way she can keep track. The first month might be rocky but after that is should be fine. Or what you could do is after expalning the plan say that you are paying for the basic plan if she uses more minutes she will have to pay for it.

Actually you can get the cell phones with the cards, and get a certain # of minutes. If she uses her minutes before the month is over, she either buys another card or the phone doesn't work, or you buy her another card. Either way you won't get shocked with a large bill, and it will teach her to use it wisely.

Yes, this is a great idea!

Also, it is good for a girl her age to have a cell phone for ONE reason only. She has to be accountable to her parents at ALL times.
