WELL MY BACK GROUND IS HVAC ENGINEERING DID THAT FOR MANY YEARS.ONE DAY DECIDED CAREER CHANGE WENT TO WORK FOR THE AIRLINES TO ENGINNER AT OHARE TERMINAL BUT WENT TO WORK FOR UNITED.WELL AFTER 5YRS THERE I GOT LAID OFF DUE TO 911 AND ITS BEEN 2 YRS SINCE IVE BEEN THERE,BEEN ON FURLOUGH.WENT BACK TO ENGINEERING WICH I RUN MY DEPT AND BASICLY HAVE A DESK JOB AND TELL PEOPLE WHAT TO DO.I'M HAPPY THERE BUT GUESS WHAT AFTER 2 YRS I'M ABOUT TO GET CALLED BACK AT UNITED,THERE HIRING EVERYONE BACK.I'M AT A SCALE UNION WAGE AT UNITED WICH IS MORE THAN I MAKE NOW.MY BENEFITS AT UNITED BLOW THE ONES I HAVE OUT OF THE WATER.I WOULD BE WORKING MORE AT UNITED BUT I LOVED WORKINMG THERE EVEN BUSTIN MY ASS LOADING 350 BAGS ON MY KNEES ON A 757 OR OPERATING A CARGO LOADER FOR A 777,747,767.EVEN THE WEATHER DIDNT BOTHER ME.AND BELEIVE ME WORKING IN THE COLD AT OHARE YOU HAVE TO HAVE A COUPLE SET OF BALLS.

A-BETTER MONEY BETTER BENEFITS,PLUS FLIGHT BENEFITS WICH I FLY ALMOST FOR FREE.BUT HARDER WORK

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK

B-LESS MONEY BUT EASIER JOB BUT NOT AS GOOD INSURANCE AND WE ARE TALKING A BIG DIFFERENCE.

Fuzo you got to do whats right for you and your family. But there will always be a need for HVAC engineering. And you could always get a job in that field. So I would go with United, and if something happens you always have HVAC to fall back on. Good Luck with your decision bro... I know you will make the right choices.

security is the main thing. does you no good to give up your seniority, move on, and be subjected to possible future lay-offs. you didnt mention if you thought you were at a ceiling rate now. is there a possibility of future raises? are you in 401k, proffit sharing, or any thing else that would set you up for retirement?
also, what is the possability of talking with the g.m. (i remember he's not the brightest light bulb) and seeing how much they want to keep you? though decission bro, i feel ya!
