Would you guys work out when you are sick? I have a very bad cold and called in sick yesterday from work. Today I have the day off. I hate not going to the gym and want to later today, but I don't know if it's a good idea.

Re: Working out when sick
If the cold is in your head then go ahead. If the cold is from the neck down then you need to skip the gym. Most head colds aren't as bad on you as resiporty colds. However, if you have green crap coming out of your nose then you have a sinus infection and that requires you get some rest so you can heal. Trust me, when you are really sick your body is putting everything it has into fighting that cold. If you go train you will only prolong the cold.

Re: Working out when sick
Thanks for the info. I felt worse yesterday. Slept till 3 on the recliner which I never do. My sinuses are full, but snot is still clear. Flemmy throat went away (wasn't that bad). Appetite is better (yesterday had only 2 king size kit kats). I think I'll wait another day. I hate not working out! I feel like i'm missing out! Oh well, hopefully tomorrow I'll feel better. You guys helped me make my decision. Oh yeah, my right ear seams a little blocked which scares me a little.Perfect Body = State of Mind + Lifestyle

Re: Working out when sick
Rhino virus infection (common cold). The virus settles in the nose (rhino) and symptoms will begin their onset 1-5 after you have been infected. Post-nasal drip will contribute to the sore throat, however, it shouldnt be red. Within 1-3 days your "snot" should become thicker and maybe change colors from clear to yellow to green. The color of your snot however is never a indication for antibiotics, because as in this case it could be a virus. I would recommend the same thing your mom would. lol. Plenty of fluids, rest, zinc, and vitamin C (1000mg Its alot but its not fat soluable so toxicity isnt of concern at that low of a volume for a week or so) Its going to take probably 7 days tills its completly cleared up. Hit the gym twoards the end though to get your body temp up. Dont try to kill a fever unless its surpassing 103 degrees (F)."Better Things for Better Living...Through Chemistry." -DuPont

Re: Working out when sick
On top of all that, the equipment at the gym is the nastiest phuquing disease germ carrying shit on the face of the earth. Think of how many sweaty, bare ball adjusting, crotch itching, wedgie picking, farmers nose blowing hands touched the bars before you. The gym is thee worst place to go if you're sick“I don't look ahead... I keep focused on my next opponent. I am looking forward to my next opponent, I don't think past that point.”
