I jsut checked all majpr news websites, all say clinging to life, but this online encyclo says "reportedly died April 1"

There were reports that he had died but his heart is still beating. The media kinda jumped the gun on that one. I'm sure he won't make it through the night though.

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Italian media gave contradictory reports about Pope John Paul's vital signs on Friday, first saying his heart and brain activity had stopped and then reporting this was not true.
There was no official comment from the Vatican.

The first reports, picked up by the state broadcaster RAI, said his electrocardiogram had gone flat. The ADNkronos news agency said monitoring showed his brain activity had halted.

But Sky Italia television later quoted Vatican sources saying both his brain and heart were still functioning.

His role is Vicar of Christ. He's a spiritual leader, the head of the Church and head of the Vatican, the smallest city state in the world.

I believe he is a good man. He upholds the Catholic doctrine, which in many cases ppl now don't agree with, but even so, he has done much good for the faith and in helping human kind.

he could be dead and they are just tryin to get ratings for a few more hours before delivering the news. The media doesnt care about reportin good news, just in competition with eachother to see who can get the story first, even if the story is horsepoop.
