i stopped by a praty last night at like 2am to pick up my roomate and a few guys in my house who were drunk. I parked my car in the street and there were cars in front of me and behind me. I came out about 15min. later and my front windsheild was busted, its spider webbed. This pisses me off. Its gonna cost between $300-500 depending on if the can get one used.
im gonna really hurt who ever did this. Some guys are such pussies, it takes a real man to beat up a car at 2am. they do this cause they know that i would kill them so the break something that wont hit them back.
im just venting.

No insurance? I've replace broken windshields before for around $50. Its a special clause in most policies.

im not gonna claim it, i have a $500 deductable, i already have high risk insurance because the bike got me in tons of trouble, i have been dropped by american family and all state.

Don't underestimate those windshields. I saw someone lose an eye once fighting one. They don't take shit from anyone.

check ur policy bro. the 500 deductible usually applies to the comprehensive and glass is no deductible

glass claims are nothing. at the most they would simply take that coverage away from you. its considered to be a comprehensive claim and its not counted against you the same way as things that fall under collision or liability

Dunno how it works down in the US, but in BC we have 3 different coverages.

1) Basic coverage just covers the other guy's car and your liabilities(law suits, etc). So if you get into an accident and your found at fault, your own vehicle repairs are not covered you pay a $500 deductible and premiums go up. If the other guy was at fault, your vehicle is covered and you pay no deductible... your permiums do not change. Every vehicle must have basic coverage.
2) Collision - This is an addon to basic coverage so that if you get in an accident and are found at fault, you still pay a $500 deductible and your premiums still go up, but in this case the damage to your vehicle is covered.
3) Comprehensive - This insurance covers damage not associated to a traffic accident(car not in motion). Busted glass, vandalism, fire, and theft fall under this one. Claims under comprehensive will cost you a $300 deductible (in some cases $200), but your premiums do not go up.

Only basic coverage is mandatory, the upgrades are optional and cost more money of course.

Yeah, i think Ed has it. If you have to replace auto glass, it doesn't fall under you deductable. I think on my policy it is like $50. max i pay out of pocket for windshield or side windows.

here in the states there is no deductible on liability (basic coverage) and that is the only thing mandatory by law in MOST states. the deductibles on collision and comp are your choice. they range from 0 up to 1000. you can add full glass to the comp coverage, if you don't the glass goes under the comp deductible. comprehensive also includes "acts of god" so your car can actually be in motion for that coverage. hitting a deer is an act of god and goes under comp. but only if you only hit the deer. if u bounce off, or try and avoid and hit something else then its collision. now as far as your premiums going up under comp usually no they don't at all. however some companys like the one i sell for give discounts to people who are comp claim free, so you don't get surcharged but you can lose a discount
