FALSE bro!!!!!!!! I have talked with credit reporting agencies and bank loan officers about this. It is a myth. As long as YOU yourself are the one checking it there is no negative effect on your score. It is good to check credit 3 to 4 times a year. I run mine every 4 to 6 months. For a free anual credit report from each of the 3 bureaus at www.annualcreditreport.com. This is a new law nation-wide that went into effect in Sept last year.

In my most recent experience (2 wks ago) it was the opposite. Experian by mail order and Trans and Equifax immediately.

This is not always true either. When you read a 3 in 1 credit report you will see that all 3 are used. However, Equifax and Experian get hit the most.

Yes that is true mick. I had to buy my fico score through equifax. If you want scores from all three then you have to purchase it through each of them.

If you are in no hurry to receive it, then do it by mail from any of the three. Equifax however seems to be the best, and one of the most used around. I check mine often. And it doesn't hurt my score as long as I check it.

Re: Your Credit - Do you Check it?

I check it once in a while. The worst that has happened to me is discovering an old unused account is still open. Luckily, nothing bad yet.

I have one of those on mines too. Do you know if it hurts your score by having one on there? I've been too lazy to file a complaint.

sus, I was actually reading this weekend and it says it hurts your score to close a credit account. I was planning to close two credit cards with $0.00 balances, but decided against it.
