Only problem with that advice is that once you have a hernia it's easy to make it worse. A little trouble now could save you alot in the future.

He's right tho... some people live their whole lives with one and not know it. My dad had one his whole life, but was 35yo before he knew about it. He was in construction as well, yet never had a problem.

That's why I said keep it monitored by his doc, If he's a good doc he'll tell you why cut on you now when you can wait and SEE if it gets worse.....some get worse, some stay the same size. Basically the way he explained it to me is, Why cut now if you don't have to when if you wait and it doesn't get worse then there's no problem and if it does get worse they will just cut a little bigger peice of screen to sew into your abdomen to patch the spot.

True.. but in these cases I think he's saying that becasue it's something that's been there since day 1. Most people who live with hernia's are born with them. I was born with two for example.

In Soda's case, this is a recent tear (or an existing one that got worse) and is causeing him some noticeable pain. In this instance, a doc will reccomend surgery almost every time.

Not my doc, I recently had a tear that caused my hernia and wasn't born with it thats for sure. But mine isn't causing great pain just discomfort that's why I said what I did in the first post. To each his own but it never hurts to ask for a second opinion that's all I'm saying. It sure helped me and I'm still lifting harder than ever and the size of my hernia is still around the 3cm mark.

What I mean by "helped me" is that I didn't have to stop lifting, cycle, or working. Just keep it monitored and make sure it doesn't get out of hand or start causing more pain.

              Can't argue with that..
