its not about kissing ass... its knowledge of fitness, knowledge of anabolics, knowledge of nutrition, your reputation, your decisions in life, and your ability to lead people and the willingness of people to want to follow you...
that makes a mod

Only thing I'd add is to show that your able and willing to contibute to the board on a regular basis. Most of our mods spend at least an hour or 2 per day on this site.
The normal process is to become a VET 1st, then step up to mod. So if I were you, I'd be focusing on getting VET status 1st.RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.
