my attorney called my yesterday morning, then had a confrence call with my parents on the line. in feb of 03 i was hit by an 18 wheeler that changed lanes over me. my driver's side back seat was ran over and i was pushed over a curb and into a poll. i ended up with a torn MCL, i went to the hospital got a MRI, did 8 weeks of PT. it didnt heal right so i had it scoped and then another 6 weeks of PT. i made a full recovery, which was important to me because i am a D-1 swimmer. the total lawsuit was $58,876 and my bottom line after paying back the insurance, court fees, and my attorney's cut is $25,300. It took under 2 years. its like im still in shock the money doesnt seem real to me. the accident happended so long ago i dont really remember it. i got some bills to pay off and im gonna save most of it, gave my parents enough money to take a weeks vaca somewhere and help my older brother move out. then im gonna trade in my bike.

Well, its nice that you did something for the parents and brother. Sounds like you should have received a much larger settlement than that for all your pain and suffering. Usually in contingent case laywer gets 1/3 of settlement including paperwork and court costs, and this should be discussed before retaining. I have known ppl that have received much, much more for alot less injury. Anyway, try to save some or invest in something where you can make more, lol.Comment
