  • 25 more pounds!

Big Gene Rychlak put up a 975 bench this past weekend! 1000 will fall soon, probably early 2005. Ya know, it's kinda strange when the bench press wr is higher than the deadlift.

If it wasn't for the bouncing bullshit on the chest, maybe it wouldn't be that high

You can't bounce at a meet and get it passed. It has to stop on the chest until you get a "press" signal. The only problem that I've heard with this latest lift is he may have had an uneven lockout, but I haven't seen the video yet. IMO, uneven lockout or not, freaking impressive. I couldn't handle that weight on my back let alone try holding it while it hovers over my chest.

i think that record is BS. it should be clean. 2 guys at my gym just broke world records in pressing and one of them already holds a few. i think maybe in like 3/4 pressing or something similiar. i don't really care. whatever. there unproportioned though, well if thats what there into, cool.

"single ply" shirts are allowed in some events as well. That will add a few pounds to a lift.

Not too sure where you get his lift/record is bs? The man held it at arms length, paused it on his chest and pressed it back up. I doubt that there are very many here that can do half that weight.

i know a power lifting at my gym he weigh 176lbs and benches 340 for 1 rep, and he is sold on halo, anadrol, and suspension and on top of that, he wear like a tight shirt that will help him out a lot, he can't even move his arm and will take pressure off his joints and shoulders, basically cheating.... he told me that.....

Regardless of form or body type (those big 50 inch guts) I could not even imagine doing lock outs with that kind of weight. Seriously, try to even get 700 pounds to move 4 to 6 inches would be a monumental milestone for me.
I used to have superhuman powers....until my therapist took them away.

Yes, this is the power bencher. They will have large guts and short arms. They will be the ones that push unimaginable amounts of weight. We should not judge them for what they look like as T-man describes. These are beastly freaks, and they tackle their goals with equally freaky vigor. I commend them all; benchers, squatters, ... everyone.

The shirt you're talking about is a bench shirt. They originally started out as shoulder support for safety. IMO, they've gotten out of hand, in the beginning you could expect about 20 extra pounds out of a shirt and now with the more radical cut triple ply's some guys are getting up around 200 out of them. It's not really cheating because all the guys your competing with use the same stuff, so it's no more un unfair advantage than aas. Besides it only helps off of the chest it's still up to the lifter to lock it out and control the weight. My lockout sucks so those high end shirts wouldn't do much for me.

Sorry if i misunderstood you or vice versa, I was simply stating that bouncing weight off your chest is BS. moving that kind of weight yes it is impressive in all aspects!487.5 lbs., not yet, but wait.
