We'll I'd do it if the wife would let me. I try to live each day for that day. Anyone of us could die the next day just driving to work. At least I'd be working with trained people with good equipment. But I do understand that does very little to stop a RPG or EED.

100 grand would set me up for life. or at least a great start.

Re: $100,000 in 6 months would you?

I make a good living, not 100k in 6 months though. My concern is to live life and spend as much time as possible with my wife and son. Yea, I might die tomorrow in a car wreck but that's what I have life insurance for. Try getting life insurance as a security guy in Iraq. No way, and if you did the premiums would eat up a lot of what you make. No, I think I'll stay here and enjoy the snow capped mountains of Colorado.

PS - I think it is tax free. A guy across the street from me has a buddy that went to do construction and he is getting 200k a year tax free. It's not like he's going to bring all that money back, he'll wire most of it to his bank here. Atleast, that's what I was told. I don't work for the Gov so I don't know for sure.

I don't really know either, lol, but i know it would be tax free there in Iraq, but bring it back into US, i think you would have to declare the income. You know Uncle Sam wants his share. I really don't think 100k would set you up for life, lol! You need at least 2ML, and invest it if you want to live a decent lifestyle in todays economy. JsJs24 knows what its like there, it is a shithole, and you have to watch your back every second, as they hate US, and you'd be right in the middle of who they would target.

Fuck that $100,000 ain't worth the chance of a saw being taken to my neck...
I'd rather come up with others ways of making $100,000 minus the saw...

I know civilian contractors and they can get tax free if they serve at least so many consecutive days, I believe 270 or something like that. In that case they will get federal taxes waived and no bullshit coming back either.

I know I'm tax free over there no matter how long. If I step foot over there for one day then I get the entire month tax free.

Well, if thats the case it would be a positive objective as far a compensation, lol, but i still think there are better ways without endangering ones life. Especially if you are married or have kids.

There is a tax law that states if you are listed as a non US corporation, Income tax is not due. People working in foregin countries generally list themselves as non US corporations, and avoid paying taxes. It's legal.

                              Tram,

You have to go to Iraq. You know, the place that just kidnapped and beheaded two American contractors. Not to mention all the other contractors who have been killed over the past year. Not worth it, no way.

I think he's saying that he doesn't dwell in the past and he doesn't worry about things that haven't happened.

I too live in the moment myself, but I also plan out my future. Ok, I don't plan my future, I set goals for it. What kinds of plans do you guys hope to achieve?
