Re: What the best calculator to cheat with? on a CLEP test

Ouchy! I can feel the burn lol! I would use your brain. What will you do if you start taking advanced math and not know the principals? You don't want to get expelled if caught cheating and then have to work at McDonald's, or go to Hambuger University to become manager do you?

If you want a real bad ass calculator then go with a TI-89 or TI-92 Plus. The 92 plus is kind of big but the 89 looks just like a 82 or 83 but it costs $150. The 89 can do Algebra, Geometry, Trig, Calculus and Differential equations. You can draw 3-D graphs, x,y,z coords plus convert to polar and cylindrical coords. It does matrices and can solve any equation for any variable. You literally can type in (x+y)/(xy^3)+20= 200 solve for x and it will tell you want x is. You can also download a program that allows you to tranfer text files from your PC to the calculator. Very handy when needing to copy your class notes and formulas. You can write your own programs to have it solve for what you want. This is the prefect calculator for math, science and engineering majors. Too bad the professors finally caught on to this calculator's abilities, most profs don't allow you to use it anymore.

For those of you that think it's cheating, it is not cheating. Learning to use a TI-89 takes a lot of time. The manual is about 300 pages. Plus if you can't verify the answer the calculator is giving you then you are S.O.L. because screwing up a decimal point or not closing a parentheses can cause your answer to be way off. A calculator is a tool to help you understand the material better. If you don't comprehend what you are doing to begin with then you are wasting your time trying to program the calculator to do what you want it to. You need to know your material in and out before attempting to use this calculator.

Unfortunately, the professors require a student to show work. What good is showing the factors of a third degree polynomial if you do not show HOW you did it. An answer may be way off due to a silly mistake, but the professor will see the silly mistake. You will get credit for your form.

Re: What the best calculator to cheat with? on a CLEP test

Thanks to all of those who responded with good info.

Looks like the "mods" can throw the heat but can't take it. So ryker got banned..

This would have been the only required math credits that I would have needed. No further advance math would have been required.

For those who don't know a CLEP is a test that can been taken to get college credit for. www.clep.com I think is the web site.

I wasn't smarting off to you. The term "people" refers to everyone. The post, in plain english, states "clep test" yet the smart asses start blowing comments out of there ass. The few people who read my first post replied with good usefull comments.

I sure hope your not the one who banned me. That would really show your true colors.

It is hard to read between the lines Ryker. I myself thought you were taking the Clep test to take further advanced math courses in school, as there are alot of ppl here that are going to college. Also your reply was directed to IntensityX's post, as you quoted it, am i correct? Anyway, i personally don't think it would warrant banning you, but who am i, lol! I would check around on the calculator, as many stores you can return items. Buy it, use it for the test and take it back for refund. Not worth the $ if your only going to use once.

DAMN!!! Neat idea. Where were you before I bought it!!!

This is what I admire about the admins at this board. They really stick up for their moderators (IntensityX in this case)
