well, Ive been watching the 9/11 commission talks on C-Span..(am I the only one who watches c-span AND powerlifts..?)..anyway, I was impressed last nite by the straight-forward manner the info was presented regarding what happened minute by minute the morning of 9-11. IMO, Bush, Rummy, Cheney, and Ashcroft are doing as good a job as possible under the circumstances, in SPITE of the fact that all the liberals are trying their best to politicize this issue for the upcoming election.

I put NO credence in the claims made by the likes of Al Gore, Howard Dean (give ME a break..DEAN????), Daschle, or Gephardt...theyre all politicians looking for a job. Tell, me, what was Bush to do? the was I see it, we did the right thing...

    1) took out the taliban
    2) infiltrated afghanistan
    3) took out saddam
    4) trying to help the iraqi people..again in SPITE of our liberals trying to derail everything along the way

again, IMO, what we seem to be doing is setting up some sort of presence over there in the mid-east, much like we did in germany post ww2. i would not be surprised if we dont end up leaving a goodly number over there...remember we are closing the germany base...to project our power to that part of the world--"Hey, we're right here if you decide to mess up" sorta thing. The fact of the matter is, there are alot of people in that part of the world that seek to do us terrible damage and we need to be there to stop them or harass them or whatever we can do. The USA is the only superpower in the world (save for China) that really has it all together and I agree with Bush, that as the only superpower we have the obligation to help others in need. We are the worlds #1 relief-donator...we give more food, money, manpower, and resources away than most of the other countries combined.

when youre #1..everybody wants a shot at you.

            come on gringo LOL

            Ok let me rephrase it

Burkina Faso is a bigger threat than iraq, well not anymore tho.

So now, let's all turn toward the evil IRAN

You guys took Iraq out, so Iran is in the list
then after Iceland, Ireland, India, Israel and Indonesia as you took Illinois in the 18th century

                well, u asked for it....

First of all, I want you to tell me SPECIFICALLY what CRIME our president has commited that would lead to impeachment..be SPECIFIC please.

                Then,
If I claimed to be a frenchman..or canadian or whatever "new france" is..I wouldnt be talking too much about what we're doing. The USA has liberated france twice in the last century from german aggression. If it werent for us, youd be typing "new germany"....I applauded Bill Oreilly when he called for a boycott of france and french products. Chirac is spineless. Give me a break. Bush says what he means and means what he says. He didnt just lob a few cruise missiles into a tent over there ("put a million dollar missile into a $20 tent" to quote W). He made a decision as commander in chief and took care of business. The iraqi people have never been self-ruling. Of course there will be strife initally. The USA has only to look at our own struggle to be free from England (yes, I know france helped us there..thanks) and our continuing struggle to work problems out. But, bottom line, every person has the right to self-govern and should be given the chance to. The End.

I think Vandoo has point, and N. Korea is much bigger threat. We are spending billions there while our economy goes to hell. Insurance goes up, taxes etc. How about all our ppl here that need help. They dont want us there and never did this is why alot of the animosity from them. Hell they burn our flag after we trying to help. How about all the stuff we pull blowing up villages etc that no one ever hears about. We only hear what the media tells us, that we are the almighty US helping everybody. There are countres living in threat every day with bombing going on. We get one 9/11 and we still hearing about it. Sorry, but they just didn't decide one day to say " Lets blowup the trade ctr" We did something to start this and we continue to stay. If we continue to disrupt this Iraq they will strike again.

Since you were watching the 9-11 comissions, you would know that Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with 9-11. So how did the war suddenly switch from Afghanistan to Iraq when we hadn't even found Osama yet????

well, iraq and bin laden did have some communication. and hussein told the world to go jump in the lake for 12 yrs...remember, the '91 war truce treaty was based on hussein's compliance with the UN resolutions, which he did not do. therefore, since he did not comply with the treaty he signed, he had to go...end of story. face it guys, the USA is the only country in the world that can defend freedom so it has become our responsibility. The UN is a joke. further, since we have 100,000 troops over there in the middle of the place, notice how much quieter its gotten? Also, I would have bet a large amount of money that we'd be hit again within 1 year of 9/11 and nothing has happened...we're doing something right. Yall need to read the 9/11 commission's book...it is really enlightening as to alot of the behind the scenes things going on. Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, all the usual suspects had dealings with bin laden. we couldve picked any one of those losers to go after, but saddam was the biggest target...I for one am glad we got him.

You are correct. We will have our troops over there for a LONG time. I have heard a geeral predict us to be fighting terrorism over there for at least 10 more yrs. I guess that's what it takes though when you try to liberate a country like Iraq. It's a damn shame though, lots more troops will be injured and killed. Let me just assure you that they may say the war is over, but if you were there you would never guess that.

                            Excellent point!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And mick-g has a good one too. N. Korea has nuclear weapons and is crazy enough to use them. I think there was more to this war in Iraq then our safety. The taliban and Bin Laden are still running free, yet, we only have about 10k troops looking for him and 140k in Iraq.

And I agree about the French. They don't seem to back us for anything so why not boycott them. I had to switch from Grey Goose Vodka to Kettle One...lol.

Actually, our military found documents that connected high ranking Iraqi agents to Bin Laden in the late 90's. This was all over CNN about two months ago. Apparently there were several contacts to Bin Laden directly from Iraqi agents. Thats all I can remember but that does show that Iraq had contact with him just a few years before the attack. By the way, did you know some of the pilots who were training here were here for a few years before the plan was carried out? Maybe Iraq helped payed their way over here or pay their way through flight school. The time frame fits.
