  • Anyone from the Long Island, NY area?

My girlfriend just moved back to New York and I have been sending resumes to some companies up there. One from Long Island responded and I'm just curious what its like up there. Can a guy from East Texas survive in New York? Hell, I lived in Dallas for almost 4 years without any trouble!

Why does it suck? Is there a lot of crime? Is it over crowded? What?????

I live in the City. You'll need a car if you're going to be out on Long Island. You'll get culture shock, being from East Texas, but you'll be fine. Don't forget your cowboy boots, that will be funny.

I live on LI. If you want a house bring a dump truck full of cash. I'll be looking for an apartment soon, going price eastern LI $850-$1400 single bedroom, nothing fancy. Want a house? 2-3 bedroom, 80x100 lot nothing fancy - $350,000. I'm moving south eventually, can't stand the prices here anymore. It's good for a family, most areas are really nice for kids, etc. but it is expensive to live here now.

where on long island do you plan on moving suffolk or nassau? most of nassau is more crowded and city like then suffolk..and as far as apartments go..800 for a single is the cheapest youll find..shouldnt be too much of a culture shock although much different..good luck let me know if i can help with anyhting
