my boss (the cool one) asked me to go to a seminar today which i did. it was basically about useing civic minded teens who want to donate their time to the city to get grunt jobs done for free. it was horrible. i have no problem useing people who want to give their time for constructive community development but Goddam they were talking about sending them to clean shit at the pound and picking up garbage on the side of the road when they are a great resource for education of children and fund raising for non-city subsidised functions that benifit the city directly or indirectly. i left at lunch, wont go back and will tell my boss it was crap. they want to burn them up and just get more till they are all used up and bitter too.
