For Type 2 genetics and eating is the reason, but not for Type 1. I got Type 1 when I was 26yrs old, I had no family history nor did I eat bad, 250 14% bf and I was extremely active. My doc told me that they really dont know what causes your pancreatic cells to die, the theories are that your body gets confused and your white blood cells attack your islet cells which produce insulin... How does it get confused? Well it could be from extreme bouts of stress (which was my case - check it this all happened to me in a span of 1 month before I got diabetes - 1) bought a house 2)got engaged 3)moved to NYC 4)started a new job 5) 9-11 running for my life) . The other theory is that some type of virus or bacteria attacks your islet cells and then your white blood cells come in and kill everything including the islets.

My symptoms happened quick, within 2 weeks. I could not quinch my thirst, I mean i would down a 7-11 double gulp and then look for more to drink after. My vision became blurry. and i lost 20 lbs. then at the end of 2 weeks i colapsed and went to the hospital. My blood sugar was 741, not good when it should be 100.

My grandfather got it when he was like 70, must have been genetics, cause his eating habits are pretty good. i hope it skips me though

well all those symptoms vandoo and lethal listed there i have...
lots of stress, thristy all the time, lack of libido, dizzy at times, headaches every day, sleep cycle just totally fuked up etc... i also need to eat sugar like all the time.. i don't know why, but i just don't feel good till i have some... sometimes i wake up in the middle of the night and have to have some chocolate or something sweet..... it's driving me nuts.... it's been like this for a while now

plus my mom's side of her fam. they almost all have it... fuk...
i'll try see my fam. doc next week or the week after...

My friend got that last year and he was affraid of being diabetic, but in fact after testing he was ok and the doc told him to take a rest.
