Do you have a right to Police Protection?

True story...very disturbing. Occurred May 12, 2000.

Two women were upstairs in a townhouse when they heard their roommate, a third woman, being attacked downstairs by intruders. They phoned the police SEVERAL TIMES and were assured that officers were on the way. After about 30 minutes, when their roommate's screams had stopped, they assumed the police had finally arrived. When the two women went downstairs they saw that in fact the police never came, but the intruders were still there. For the next FOURTEEN hours the women were held captive, raped, robbed, beaten, forced to commit sexual acts upon each other. The three women sued the District for failing to protect them, but the D.A. said, "It is a fundamental principal of law that a government and its agents are under no general duty to provide public services such as police protection, to any individual citizen."

When the police are against you and really the law is against you then what?

In other words this means the ONLY people the police are duty-bound to protect are the criminals in custody, and other persons in custody. YOU have no recourse if the police fail to respond or fail to protect you from injury. Time after time women are being raped and these criminals get away with it. The law is against the protection of innocent citizens and against a true and fair case.... what if these women were poor and couldn't afford an attorney to prosecute and these criminals escaped scott free?

f**k cops i've never liked them or respected them, the only thing they are good at is walking around thinking there huge and writing people tickets... i feel so sorry for the women though, they will live the rest of there lives in fear of something like this happening again and they'll wonder if they will get help when they need it

To those cops, screw u all, u all supposed to protect not be lazy asses. And to that law, that aint right cause shit like that makes criminals wanna do more acts like that. it's not possible to change the law. It's not possible to sue govt agents for not providing protection. if it were possible it would be an empty profession.

if you could sue anytime they made a mistake, it wouldn't be possible to maintain order. As much as it sucks, you can't even sue an ambulance driver for getting lost and not getting there in time.

Its sad isn't it? Seems to me that when people actually need help cops don't do jack, but when it comes to giving speeding tickets to people who drive 5 mph above the speed limit they're all over that. I will never understand how they can be "ok" with letting these criminals get away with these horrific crimes...and what's worse is when people around you try to justify these events by saying, "Don't worry about it it's not a big deal", or "I don't see why you're getting so upset, just don't worry about it". AHHH!

i hate cops although i ahd an uncle who was a cop he was a decent person still dotn change the way i feel towards them when iw a sbsuted i had detective friend of the family who was "helping" me well ti turned out his helpign jsut landed me in jial sooner and fucked my self over hardcore cuz it hoguht he was being honest afte that i seen him and spit in the mutha fuckers face cant sya waht else was done ....but i HATE FUCKIGN COPS esp them skinny lil *****es who think they bad ass bill cuz they got a abdge if they wenret a cop id bury the fucks and not thinks twice if they got shitty like they do ......

i am so proud of myself for successfully reading this and understanding it. At first I looked at a big paragraph from Njjuice and said 'no way man this will be too hard' but I stuck it out and made it all the through.

Lol, I understand him just fine. You just gotta place the right words together. Just think of it as a game of scrabble. But on the cop matter, a couple of the members in the Mopar car club I attend are cops. One of them drove his cruiser to the meeting out of uniform, mind you. I guess he thought that all of the old cars needed proctection from the Houston PD

If those women would have called 911 and said that their roomate was downstares doing coke with a couple of guys, the cops would have been there in seconds.

Stopping Violence isn't important, we got to stop all those assholes that are voluntarily doing drugs, that's what's important.
