These chemicals are extensive and diverse with them most well known probably being dopamine. These chemicals can cause a variety or conditions but for people who are "addicted" it usually causes euphoria. Why? Because these people (myself being one of them) either have 1) a natural chemical imbalance or 2) a reuptake or neuropathic disorder. So indeed the person is not addicted to pot per se'. They are adicted to the chemical change occuring in their own bodies facilitated by the drug.

Nubain and oxys. Wasn't using them for rec purposes as i hate feeling high but had a bad shoulder injury from fighting and needed to keep training without the pain. When my shoulder had healed up i went to just quit cold turkey and had major withdrawels, puking, shaking, insomnia. Then i realized it was a problem and i just never touched it ever again, i dont believe in weakness in any manner so any adiction is contradictory to my entire belief system and makes a hypocrit out of me.

Just a warning for people who think nubain is a body building drug... it's not, it's no better than morphine or any other opiate. Just because its not scheduled, doesn't make it safe.

Stay clean guys, seen way too many lives ruined from shit.

I was addicted to cocaine and ended up in rehab. I used to got o meetings but in my opinion they are to cultish. They tell you what to do and how to do it. Works well for some that I have seen from experience. i just directed my focus to bodybuilding and school and the cravings and thought went away. Not dogging 12 step groups by any means just the way I feel. I have now been drug free for 4 years.

            Pick an opiate, any opiate...

            Or a Benzo...

I swore them off, they are my evil fucking past.

You would think that given this I think all drugs are bad, not so IMO. I think there are plenty of good things that have come about in time from MDMA, LSD, and yes even Opiates.

I just know myself and know I can't go back to them, they ruined a big part of my life, my wife, and a lot of friends. Sad to here my self say it, again...

For what my humble opinion is worth Pot should be leagle and not Alchohol. I rarely drink (1-2 times a YEAR), and I stopped smoking dope 10+ years ago but I still feel the same.

Funny, 90% of the people I know are burners or have been...

I to agree that pot should be legal over alcohol, if you research it on the internet there is not a single recorded death due to marijuana use directly as there are thousands a year for alchol (the only reason I know this for sure is I had to do a report on it)

I don't puff accept rarely simply because it is illegal and I have a lot to lose being caught. .. just don't want the trouble.

I'm surprised no one has said anything about juice yet, I would think that someone would be mentally addicted to the efects of it.

my little brother died in '98 and after that i was trying to escape everything the wrong way....i got into extacy really bad. wheni would go out i'd get into some pills, and while i was on it everything that was bad for me turned good. or that was what i thought. i cant remember much about '99 due to that!!

that was my only addiction. i havent dont it since 2000 now.

I've been clean for about a year now..

I was addicted to Methadone. Most people get addicted to this only after trying to rehabilitate themselves from another drug, but this is what i started with.

At first it was a great feeling, especially mixed with alcohol, but a tolerance is built quickly. Pretty soon, there no way to obtain a "buzz" from it, so you decide to quick, only to discover that your body is so dependant on it, that you will have withdrawels if you stop taking it. BAD withdrawels that include vomiting, cold sweats, diarrhea, nausea, fever, severe body aches, etc...

all you have to do is take one pill and they go away, so you justify taking one, but that soon leads to another, and pretty soon your recovery effort has failed again, and again!

Finally I was determined, and right about the point I was going to relapse, my brother (ex-oxycontin addict) took me to Texas, and kept me there to "dry out".

I still think about it from time to time, but when I think about it for just a minute, all the memories of withdrawel symptoms come back, and that's enough to keep me from going back.

I really believe that prescription drugs are as addictive or worse addictive that any other rec. drug

Not around much more, because my job blows, but damn I miss you folks!!

R.I.P. Geared Up, you are missed my friend!
