Well now, that might jsut keep me in school.

Just a little FYI about me. . .

I'm a pre-med/pre-law major at a major college (wont' say name but it is in the top 50
I am a sophmore, got a 3.8 last year, took almost all honors class's. I basically came to the realization that college is not for me and I guess if no other opportunities where to arrise I would stick it out for the long run, but i'm just trying to get a feel for what else is out there. THe major problem I have is my personality lends it self for only trouble in an enviroment where i am saying "yes sir" to someone who I can not see the merit in doing so to. I realized this from my dad, he is brilliant, went to cornelle, graduated top of his class, went to columbia law graduated top of his class now he answers to people who have been working 20 years longer than him because of jsut that, they have 20 more years experience, but are idiots. Just gets me kinda frustrated if you know what I mean.

I never went to college, and have never been laid off, never made under 50,000 a year! I make 85,000 a year now working in the Coal mines. The problem with college is that they pound it in your heads that a college degree makes you better than everybody else. Every body I went to high school with, that went to college, are either making half of what i make, or they are waiting tables, or pumping gas. I say get trained in a good trade. That will take you farther than a college education!

People dont make more money because they have a degree. They make more money because they are good at what they do. The people who make alot of money would make alot even if they didnt go to college.

LOL. I know a ton of people with economics degrees that work in resturaunts. No offense if this pertains to anyone.

...College wasn't for me either. I had a scholarship going in, I was a freshman in all sophomore classes, and I was in honors classes my first semester. But I just hated the environment - I tried two different colleges to no avail, so I ended up "postponing" graduation and joining the "workforce.” It was the worst decision I have ever made.

I have had corporate positions since I left, but I am underpaid and overlooked. Granted, I make great money (just not as GOOD as I should be) and have awesome perks, but I would prefer to be an asset. There are people here who have less skills than myself that have a college degree and they are definitely favored.

I will be returning to school shortly – but now that I am on my own, I will have to work and put myself through rather than go full time.

I suggest staying in – just grin and bear it for a few more years, I don’t think you will regret it. If only I could go back and do it over again.

Another thing. Most people get the "good" jobs, because they have connections. It not what you know, its who you know! sad but true!

you call it having connections, some call it taking advantage of opportunities

and there is a simple reason for that, nobody wants to take control of their lives and think for themselves. they think if they do what they are told (go to school) they will be just fine, they will graduate and get a good job. then they get out and work for their buddy that started working right out of highschool. most people go to college because they think its the next step after HS, its not its just one option.
