my club in limbo

as many of you i am a member of a martial arts club. i do a little kickboxing. although i am not very good i still blow off steam by going and punching a bag, sparring with a friend or just bullshitting whith the guys. we have rented a space in a strip mall in a north dallas industrial complex strip for going on 4 years. we have had no problems with the other tenants or the city since we have been there. now they are not renewing our lease. they said that the city is telling them there must be a business in this space because its zoned business. we called the city and there is a ordinance pertaining to this but they have no notices ever issued for us to move, they only respond to complaints and they have had none. the landlord finally told us he is going to break down the wall for the little church that meets next door on sundays and wednsdays so they can have more room. i no its just business but i am upset about loosing my haven. even though i may only get to go twice a month i still enjoy being a member and friends with these guys and gal. they are talking about not getting another place. i am just upset i hope we can agree to get another space and we can continue teaching learning and having fun as we have for years. i am just sad and anxious not knowing what will become of our little group.

wow that sucks bro. i also do martial arts and have been for over 10 years. ive had many instructors due to that reason in the first 4 years of my tranning but i found a great teacher and he owns his own gym which is great. i wish u luck and hope that all turns out well.

churches can be incorporated is what i found out and are listed as a tax exempt business with the city.
