i agree that everybody has a right to their opinion. and it is your duty as a parent to teach your values to your children. i also dont like the fact that the greasy wheel gets the grease. all i was sayin was even if you dont like something that dosnt mean that it isnt right for sombody else and for some. if you teach your children that something that somebody is doing is wrong then it can lead to distain and hate or at the least fear. you must also teach tolerance with your conviction. this dosnt just have to do with just sexual orientation it has to do with all races creeds and religions. we all have the right to dislike something and speak out against it but as saturn said "the majority is vilified for speaking their views". the people we are talking about are not the majority. they are the christian coalition right wing conservatives that speak out so harshly against gay folk. they are also the same people who kill abortion doctors even though its against the ten commandments.
"SHIAT BIOTCH, thats a big ass!"

These extremists are the ones who give Christians such a bad rap. I have agreed with everything Sugarbaby has said. One of my best friends from childhood in my church is gay. I know he struggles with it. Props to him for keeping his relationship with God. I don't agree with his lifestyle and think its a sin, but that is an issue between him and God to deal with. I could write a whole lot on this, but I won't bore you or repeat what has already been said.
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat. - Teddy Roosevelt

Define "sin"!! I just can't accept that just because someone says something is a "sin" according to some book, that it gives them the right to say what someone else, that they may or may not know, does behind closed doors is wrong. It has nothing to do with them. I say people need to just mind their own business!!

Sorry that was a point I meant to make before. Sin is sin in God's eyes. Adultry is a sin hetero or homo. I was raised to believe God intended sex for one man and one woman in marriage. I still believe that. I haven't abided by it, but I have sinned. Just as we all have, even the pope (sin in general, not just sex). My point is these people need to take a look at themselves. Why is this "sin" (homosexuality) so much worse than the others. Is it really that much worse than say a married preacher having an affair with the choir lady? According to the bible they are all the same. There's some quote that says, "We have all fallen short of the glory."

So you're right, it has nothing to do with them and they need to back off.

Well, it seems to me that it is in our nature as human beings to "sin". "Sin", I guess would mean that the act is wrong according to some higher power. Well, if it's so natural for people to sin, even in the case of the preacher you just used as an example, maybe this so called "god" may not be accurate about what is supposedly right or wrong. if everyone is going to sin anyway, then whats the point of having all this religious structure.....I just can't justify all this "sin" crap...that shit is all a bunch of hokus pokus nonsense!! I live in the real world!!

Religion is a futile subject to debate.

I suspect religion is becoming passe. It should be interesting to see the shift in focus over the next 50 years. Christianity would have to become extremely capitalistic in order to survive. Quite frankly, there's no reason why it shouldn't try, for its origins clearly signal its ability to transform.

                Isalm or Christiandom?
                Nike or Adidas?

Sadly, the latter question has more relevance with the youth of today, who will ultimately become our leaders.

Humans will survive in spite of doctrines or supposed higher powers. The rules are very simple: survive long enough to reproduce, foster your offspring, repeat. Everything else, my friends, is just noise.
I know nothing about any of this insanity... it's just a fun game to me.

Sorry, Jack, I'm not trying say you or anyone is wrong...I just can't beleive in something I can't prove or have never seen for myself, just because someone else said it exists.
