  • buying a motorcycle

Im new to the whole motorcycle thing, but I think i would like to buy a used one. My first choice would be a harley. Second a honda VTX 1300.... but they are both way out of my price range.

I live in a college town, so im guessing i can pick up a used sports bike for a reasonable price. i would like to keep it between 2k-3500. I know that is pretty cheap.

I just want some advice, recomendations.... from experienced riders. any thoughts ?

    thanks

If i did have 50K to spend on a bike the money wouldnt be going to OCC. I dont want a bike that looks like an airplane or a hellicopter. I would have to try and get in with jessie james.

First off, MSF course. It's boring but you really do learn a lot.

Second, it sounds like you'd want a 600cc motorcycle but you're price range puts you in the early 90s (which isn't bad).

I'd suggest looking at how many previous owners (especially if they were young), the mileage (they're not like cars btw - so try to stay away from really high mileage bikes - jmo), was it garage kept?, what kind of upgrades, etc.... you know what I mean.

Also, check your local cycle trader to get an idea of what you can get on your budget.

Good luck bro... and be safe!
