you know I wasn't going to respond to this, but this thread has really turned into a "Gang up on Dreamgirl" You haven't lived in my shoes and seen what I have seen.

I am sure that I have been around more professional athletes outside of the game than most of you... I can't say that I have ever met a player who was a regular, decent guy... maybe it's where I hang out...

I take that back... in college, my friend from Cincinnatti was trying to hook me up with her friend David Bell... I talked to him on the phone a lot of times, but we were never find time to meet... (different colleges + his baseball) he was a normal nice guy... but at the time he wasn't a professional player...

I've met a lot out at bars and clubs and of the ones I have met they have all acted the same... you are right, that doesn't make them a rapist... One of my friends was dating Manny Ramirez and he was married... I'm just trying to convey to all of you what a lot of these guys are like...

Dreamgirl you said it, maybe its were you hang out, seems like your the girl that wants to be around guys like that, for what reason I don't know. Could it be that you consider yourself elite? If you were a professional athelete wouldn't you treat hangers-on like that. Remember people want what they can't have, if its too easy they don't want it at all.

I usually go to the "hot spots" when we go out, which is where the players hang out... plus I've been to a lot of the MLB stuff because my uncle is a lawyer with them... which means, I have been able to go to VIP parties with players... and when there are any playoff games, I sit in the VIP section with all the players Gf's and wives... I didn't marry or date anyone within the professional sports areas, so I wasn't ever a gold-digger.

dreamgirl, i don't think anyone's trying to attack you but you do come off as very much stereotyping a lot of ppl. okay - so you've met a few baseball players, but think of it this way, the environment in which you're meeting them are where they are "partying". not necessairly in the "best behavior" mode. they're out to enjoy themselves. can you say for sure that this is how they ALWAYS are?

and just because one friend of yours had an affair with a married ball player does not a jackass/ego tripping asshole every ball player make.

your tone towards the professional atheletes that you set in your posts seem plain judgemental and "soap box"-ish. i think that's why ppl took some offense.

i didn't really respond because i HAVEN'T hung out with these ppl but even if i have met them and hung out with them, it doesn't mean that a few set the mark or rules of behavior for all.

you know, I had dinner in San Francisco with Elvis Grubach and his wife back in 1994 when he played for the 49ers... I was on spring break and my friend I was with knew him, so she set it all up for us to meet him... he was a genuine great guy.. he even let us ask all the stupid questions we wanted to. he thought we were hilarious... not everyone is an ass.... but it's rarer

not to be a ***** or anything but i do agree with pucknutz. i wouldn't have been as harsh, but you're seemingly trying to come off as showing us that you're better than us by dropping a new name in each post.

i go out in NYC all the time, i see ppl out and about and every once in a while, i venture into VIP sections of hot parties. to me, it's usually much ado about nothing.

i will still go back to my original statement that you are definitely unfairly stereotyping a group of ppl and labeling them all potential rapists based on a few that you met in a very specific type of environment.
