Notebook Cell Modem

I'm thinking about purchasing a notebook and want to access the net with a cell phone. I know very little about this so any info would help. If you use a cell modem I would appreciate your opinion.

I've used my laptop hooked up to my cellphone before, and it's slow as hell. It takes about 15 minutes just to check my email.

That sucks. I want to do some banking and stock trading with it. Sounds like it will take hours to load a page.

Yea the modem speed will vary but I do not think many still give you a quick enough access to enjoy it any! Some of the newer model phones are getting better & faster at it, but still lack!
