  • That was kinda odd!

As some of you know, I work down the hall from an abortion clinic. There's only our IT office and this abortion clinic on our floor, so it's pretty easy for me to tell who's getting an abortion.

Anyway. Today I got on the elevator with some girl whom had just had an abortion. On the elevator ride down we stopped at the maternity floor and a couple got on with a brand new baby.

Was it ever weird watching this couple reveling in the miracle of life, while a women whom had just had an abortion was only 3 feet away.

It was really interesting watching the abortion girl and the looks that went across her face. Her smile at a new baby quickly faded into a frown...

I myself was wadeing in a sea of emotions.. I didn't know how to feel.

Hmmmmmmm...I think this could touch off a nasty debate but I feel that most people make short term choices when it comes to abortion i.e money, family perception, the time it takes to raise a baby and make a decision based on that. To me, any life is precious and no one has the right to take away life.

I will say that this can be an open, civil debate. If you have thoughts about bombing abortion clinics or chaining yourself to a church for a woman's right to choose you may not want to post here

Well. I didn't mean to touch off a debate.. but now that I think about it... this thread isn't going to do anything but...

I agree with you Game up to a point. People not ready for change are often scared of it. However, is it fair for this child to be raised by an unworthy mother? I think maybe adoption is a better choice in these circumstances.

Rape and incest are definately enough cause for abortion in my opinion.

Especially the bombing of abortion clinics part... damn that'd really suck for me!

I agree with your adoption theory and for once feel that you and I are respecting each other's opinions. As for incest and rape I still would go with adoption but then again I will never be a father. I got my ex pregant and she lost the baby and let me tell you it felt like piece of my heart was ripped out. Still a hole there.

I have been on both side i have 3 children, but during the final year of our relationship she became preganant and we knew we could afford another one so she went for an abortion. Its extremly difficult decison to make and it is something that sticks with you espcially for the woman. I know every now and then my ex still brings it up. I do believe abortion is a good thing as long as it is not abused, such as used as a form of birth control (my ex was on the shot when she got preganat). but it does take a psychological toll on a person there is no doubt of that. And that girl that was in there with the new parents that must have been a pain that is unbelievable.

Well, the incest and rape thing gets tricky.

Do you believe that you should abort a baby if you find that the baby will be born with some sort of debilitateing disese and possibly not live through childhood? Bad things happen to babies of incestious parents.

And with rape, I guess it comes down to if you believe a person's sence of morality is genetic or learnt. Can you be born a bad person, or is that something you learn?

I think that evil comes from a chemical inbalance and some learned behavior. As far as a baby being born handicapped then I would let nature take it's course.

                        I don't know what'd I'd do if I was in your situation.

As for that girl.. yes it must have been painful. My first thought was "You *****, look what you just wasted".. but that thought quickly hit the dirt as reality set in..

Not to be mean or to flame but, whos to say why she had the abortion, maybe she was raped maybe she knew it was going to be deformed or have severe birth defect. During my ex's pregancy with my son they originaly thought he might be deformed or have birth defect, ended up being they had the date mixed up so all the charts were off, and me and her had a long talk and we both agreed that we didn't want our child to live a life in a wheelchair or have some severe deformatie. Everyone has a diffrent of opinion but to me if i have am having a child i want to make sure that it atleast can have some remenece of happyness and product life. And to me having a severe birth defect or some sort of deformaty or disease isn't giving a child the ability to have a decent life. But thats always a judgement call and everyone needs to decide on their own.
